Emerson Air Conditioner #10HW42K through wall

I know that a Island Air units come in all shapes and sizes and they make a ton of different units. They are made in new york thats who I would use. I would definitly go with the 12,000 btu unit 500 square feet needs 12,000 btus 10,000 is under sized. 500 square feet divided by 500 = 1 ton of cooling. let me know if I can further assist.

The unit isn't kicking out any water. And its not cooling like it normally does. How can I fix this issue?

Unless your compressor is burnt up, you probably don't need a new unit. If it's a 1998 it's not that old and you can get parts, the only thing is it's probably R-22 refrigerant and they must fix the leak in the unit if that's the problem before adding refrigerant and the refrigerant is expensive.. All they have in a heating and cooling system, that needs replaced, are a few parts. Outdoor unit has a fan motor,compressor, capacitors fan and compressor and a contactor. Furnace has a blower motor, capacitor, gas valve, fan and limit or furnace control board, which they still make replacement parts for.
My advice would be to call some more HVAC companies, till you find one, that is willing to fix your unit and not replace it..

Oh yes,there are plenty to choose from,you can go larger,if it is a 220 volt,and get better service,it will cool better,and cost less,on electric.

most wall unites will fit any whole they even have curtain to fill in the whole. 40 years old that old!

try a fan run capacitor ,,,and the a new fan ,see if fan is stif to turn by hand if so replace fan

Hi, if your 6 year old Aircon has not yet been re-charged eversince it was bought, then yes it's time for a refrigerant re-charge.

Weather below 50 deg F can harm airconditioners if you run them. If the unit is turned off, then the weather can get as cold as it wants to and not damage the unit. Also 99.999% of the time repair costs on wall units surpass the cost of replacing the unit. This is even accounting for the fact that you will have to pay $25 to $50 to get rid of the old a/c. 5 yrs isn't that bad for a wall shaker anymore. Suggest looking for a new unit.
