Your machine has hit the Ink Overflow Protection Counter Limit. Sounds dreadful but fairly easy to fix.

Get this C66 Rescue Kit and follow the instructions. your printer should spring back to life in no time.

Most likely the cartridges aren't seated correctly.

While the printer is off. Try putting your fingers in there and push down the lid.

If that does'nt work, slowly and gently pull the print head to the side so u can access the cartridges. Push them all down and make sure the lid clicks. Then push the print head back.

Turn on your printer

Red and green lights are flashing alternatively and colour ink cartridge has run out. How do i change the cartridge?

Flashing alternately mean waste pad full. Reset using SSC utility or Adjusment program/resetter. But, you must replace cartridge before. Turn off printer, unlock carriage lock (left side of carriage at parking position). Move carriage by hand to replacement position. Replace ink tank. Reset using the resetter.

if :
Red paper.jpg paper and red inkout1.jpg ink light flash alternately and green power.jpg power light is off possible problem: Paper may be blocking movement of the print head. Turn off the printer, then open the cover and remove any jammed paper or other foreign objects. Turn the printer back on again. If the lights are still on, that means the printer is having a hardware issue if: Green power.jpg power light is off; red paper.jpg paper and inkout1.jpg ink lights flash (quickly) possible problem: The printer may have an internal error. Turn off the printer, wait a few seconds, and turn it on again. If the lights are still flashing , that means the printer is having a hardware issue

Green light out both red lights flashing alternately

If the lights are flashing alternately then this is the Service Maintenance request by the printer. Usually this is related to the ink pads. You will need to change the ink pads and use a SSC utility.

R200 not working, flashing red lights like ping pong

If the lights are flashing alternately (which I think is what you mean) then your printer is requesting the waste pads be changed or "service required" as it's often known.

The solution is pretty simple and consists of two stages..

1. Download the SSC utility and use it to reset the protection and overflow counters (instructions are available all over the web for this and your printer is compatible but DO NOT use the ink freeze or chip reset functions as they can cause all sorts of problems!)

2. Redirect your waste ink flow to an external tank of some description. There are pre-made kits available of varying types or you can build your own.
All the info you need on this part of the process are available from this forum

Hope that helps and if you hit any problems, please post a follow up comment and I'll do what I can to help.

Cheers

Trouble codes - red and green light flashing alternately

The Waste Ink Pads in your printer are saturated with ink and the waste ink counter has exceeded its limit. The Waste Ink Pads should be replaced as soon as possible. You can overcome this problem temporarily by using the SSC utility - download from

http://www.ssclg.com/epsone.shtml

and reset the Protection Counter. This will stop the lights flashing and restore normal operation. However, remember that eventually ink will overflow from the waste ink area and make a dreadful mess, so you must change the waste ink pads before this happens. This requires the disassembly of the printer. If you want to have a go at doing this yourself, the 820 service manual can be downloaded from here:
