Hinge on the LG Chocolate by Verizon

The Verizon LG Chocolate is not compatible with the AT&T network. Verizon uses CDMA and AT&T uses GSM.

I had the same, or a very similar problem. What happened with mine, was the sensor on the upper right corner of the phone was getting blocked. It is supposed to sense when you have the phone next to your face and then it will darken the screen, Mine had plastic that was obstructing it. Hope this helps.

My LG Versa kept freezing up too...Call Verizon and have them tell you what software version is on your phone currently. I then took took it to the Verizon store and had it 'flashed' because there was a newer version for mine...it took about 25 minutes...worked fine...no more freezing up.

you bought a phone locked? if your friend cant unlock phone might be stolen, call the phone company it is with and give them the ein number it should be under batery and they can tell you about the phone

have you tried calling verizon customer service ?

you cannot use a verizon phone on an alltel plan. you have to switch over to verizon to make that phone work. i tried getting a chocolate to work on alltel too and they would not do it.

I took the phone to Verizon and they tried a different battery. It worked fine so I had to buy a new battery

best to buy a new phone...you can try and take it to a mobile service center and see if reflashing it would correct it
