Hi Aubri,

    • Download and install CCleaner (free) from Piriform

    • Run the cleaner to remove old un-needed temp files

    • Select the StartUp tab and look for any programs that you know you installed but no longer use or need, and disable them. Caution, do not disable any system files unless you absolutely know what they do and that you do not need them.

    • Run the Registry cleaner, when asked if you want to backup the registry, select YES, and save to a file you will remember just in case. I have used this program hundreds of time on many different system and it has never caused a problem, but you want to be safe, backup the Registry.

    • If asked about a particular file that it wants to clean, select "yes to all"

    • Reboot

Windows should reinstall the drive when the computer boots back up.

If this does not resolve your problem, try the following.

If you take all these step and you still can not burn a DVD, chances are your DVD burner componet needs to be replaced. Good Luck.

  • If this helps resolve your issue, would you please rate the solution

USB Port can preform faster error message

This is because you are plugging in a USB 2 device to a standard USB port, or a USB 3 device into a USB 2 port. The computer is just telling you that if you upgrade the hardware, the device will work faster. Its more of an information message than an error. Your device should still function fine.

Recording Error, Can not record on this disc, E 4 54040990 Just trying to record from TV on a Memorex DVD+RW. Keep getting this error. Any ideas?

Recently started getting the same error message. I thought it was because I was getting to close to full or something that was trying to over fill the discs. Have tried EP and LP and this just started when I had a disc set to record to the end. I can't even open that one or finalize it. The rest do the same. They are working fine and when the error comes up, ZAP the disc is dead, no access.

I also tried putting the same disc into another Magnavox DVD recorder, still no access. These are both the most reliable recorders I've ever owned and I've had a number.

magnavox error message dvd "e 6 2a031000 can not record on this disc."

I suspect at this point, a batch of cheap Nexxtech DVDs. Also it's possible that it's a heat problem with the recorder? Once the disc goes into error mode, it's unreadable and all recordings that haven't been written to the TOC become invisible, but that time is forever lost on the DVD.

DVD is visibly (looking at recording surface) FULL but the supposed record time isn't used up. Data error. Discs reporting wrong size. Try a different brand of DVD.

Gta san andreas loads but then says error reading disc

if you are using the older style ps2 fat one then its probly that the disc might either be scratched a bit and almost outta date as a older ps2 gets used it will begin to have disc reading errors what i did was upgrade to the slim they have less problems with disck reading erros over time id do one of two things or both take the disc to someone or a place to have it professionly cleaned for at most 3 bucks then try it then if not try leaning your ps2 upright and incert the disc some times doing that will make the laser not hickup and read it better with the motor running sideways keepng it from skipping . if it dosnt help much im sorry but its always a good try ;)

"no disc" error message

Try unplugging the unit, then remove the cover. Take a cotton swab, wet one end with glass cleaner, and clean the lens on the laser assembly. Use the other end to dry it off and finish cleaning. Wipe very gently, do not press down hard on the lens.

This problem is usually (not always) caused by dust and smog accumulating on the lens, preventing the laser from reading the disc. Symptoms are skipping, spinning and not reading, or "no disc" errors.

Constant reset/report problem

Most likely a problem with the laptop/windows. The error box you are getting asking about sending a report to Microsoft will only come up when a program ends abnormally. If it happens with just 1 program, it's probably that program having a problem. If every program gets that message, it's probably either a windows problem, or hardware issue.

NECVOX RE-8169DVD ' No Disc' Error Message

Hi

I think you can see the lens of the DVD's laser.  If so get some glass cleaner, and a Q-tip.  Dampen one tip of the Q-tip with the glass cleaner and clean the laser lens.  Use the dry end of the Q-tip to dry the lens

Disc Error

If you don't mind paying out some money, data recovery experts can possibly retrieve the data. You may want to try doing it yourself though because at least you know you won't damage the actual disk. Who knows what will happen to it after it has left your possesion.
