My 93 s10 blazer idles really ruff and i
erratically for the first few minutes until it warms up. It now sound like its going to stall every morning I start it up and black soot comes out the tail pipe onto the pavement but only while its idling rough. After i changed the cap and rotor it idled good for a couple days then started doing it again.Already changed the fuel filter and pcv valve. whats the problem?

Check your thermal vaccum switch, or just check for a vaccum leak in general

1993 s10 4.3 starts fine, while idling it dies. sometimes i have a hard time restarting. the blazer died a couple of times while driving.fuel pump is good, tuned up, remanuf. injectors 1 yr ago, engine lite...

only half way there if you have a tbi check the crank sensor/ cam sensor that is the first line of business on that truck if the crankshaft sensor fails the truck stops dead when you wait a few minutes the sensor re energizes and the truck will work again for a bit antiknock can cause similer problems but not while the truck is running

this sytem is shift on the fly!! you can engage and disengage from 2wd to 4wd at speeds up to 45-50mph, 4wd lo you need to be a complete stop some cars need to be in neutral with parking brake on and some need to be in gear there all different, consult your owner manual for correct shifting pattern to 4wd lo range

1993 chevy blazer S10

That is a very common problem with General Motors 700R4 transmission. There is a shell that encases the majority of the forward gears and the reverse drum is on top of it and that completely encases the forward drum. at the bottom of that shell there is a collar that is about one quarter of an inch long that rides on a gear set called planetarys. those have a problem with breaking and cause no reverse and driving in neutral. that is the link between the front and rear shaft of the transmission and the weak link. for that to be repaired it has to be removed from the truck and taken apart. It is highly recommended that it be completly rebuilt not just patched due to all of the metal that is sent through the transmission.
