I have the same issue. I've opened up several tickets with Samsung tech support. I'm concluding that it's the BluRay rcvr has bad hdmi input & output circuitry. I'm returning mine to Best Buy where I purchased it for a replacement. Before I leave the store, I'm going to make sure that the replacement unit's hdmi inputs & outputs work @ the store.

Why did I lose the video signal from the receiver to the TV?

I assume you have tried both hdmi cables from box to tv. If both works good.Cconnect to amp. Connect cable box also on other hdmi inputs like bd, dvd, etc to make sure the spesific port is not faulty. If still no picture try to lower hdmi video display on cable box. You amp may not be able to display the higher resolution.

No optical output except when using ipod dock on tv

Unfortunately, there is a limitation on the JVC LT47P789 digital optical audio out. This audio output does not get the signal from any HDMI source. This is described on page 49 of the user manual. The manual is available from JVC here: http://resources.jvc.com/Resources/00/01/14/YA653ien.pdf . There is a similar restriction for the analog audio output from the TV with the HDMI inputs.

If you use the component audio/video inputs on the TV from your set-top cable box and DVD player, then the optical audio output will work. Otherwise, you need to find a way to connect the audio directly to the receiver. Some receivers have multiple HDMI input ports. These then forward the video signal on their HDMI output to the TV. Another option is to connect the analog audio outputs from the cable box and DVD player to the receiver. This may require resetting the Audio output from these set-top boxes to keep from sending the audio over the HDMI cable. With the Cinemate, you might need some sort of audio input switch or an HDMI converter and switch that separates the audio from the video signal.

I hope this helps. Please add a comment with more information about your devices for ideas on how to work-around the problem with this JVC TV.

What is the correct wiring connection using hdmi and optical cables from a lcd tv to yamaha yht292

If you tv has a hdmi input, connect it to the Yahama receiver hdmi output (out). If you are using a satellite receiver, digital converter, or a cable box with hdmi output(s), connect them to the Yahama hdmi input (in) for video and audio signals. If the above box(es) do not have hdmi capabilities, then connect the box(es) to the Yahama with either component (preferred), svideo, or yellow RCA compsite video jack (least preferred) for the video signal. For audio, connect the box(es) with optical or coax (preferred) or left-right-center-front-rear patch cords.

It really all depends on what outputs are available on the boxes and/or signal source(s).

Hope this helps,

Intermittant Audio with Yamaha RX-V465 only from cable box

I have the same receiver... You can try pressing the Option button and choosing Signal Info to see what audio signal the receiver sees and if that changes over time. Maybe the cable box is not outputting according to specifications... TV can live with that, but receiver maybe can't.
You can also try to connect the cable box via SPDIF cable (optical or coax) to see if it helps or not.

Connection problem with HDMI cables on Denon AVR-589

Hello,
I want to clairify you install, you sat you have I an HDMI cable running from the Time Warner Cable box to the AVR-589, going in to the TV/CBL input. From the Denon AVR-589, I have an HDMI cable running from the output to my Toshiba RV525U television.

Check the connection at the TV, if as you indicated above you have an HDMI cable from the HDMI out from the Denon to an HDMI output on the TV, if this is the case you need to have that HDMI cable plugged into an input on the TV not an output

Denon AVR-488 , problems routing cable box through receiver to tv

If you don't have one, the manual is available online: http://static.highspeedbackbone.net/pdf/AVR-488-OM-E_101.pdf

Suggestions:

1. Reset to default values. Per page 36 of manual: 1. Turn off Power. 2. Press Power while simultaneously pressing Speaker A and Speaker B. 3. Once the display starts flashing at intervals of about 1 second, release the two buttons.

2. Make sure you have AM or FM radio reception. This makes sure your speakers, amps, etc are connected and working correctly.

3. Connect DVD player to HDMI 1 in and TV to HDMI Monitor Out.
Play a known good DVD that works when you connected the DVD directly to the TV via HDMI.

Select the DVD/HDP input on the receiver and play the DVD. You should not have to perform any input assignments, etc. It should just work, as HDMI1 is the default system setting for DVD.

4. If possible, obtain a STB with HDMI out & repeat step 3 using the HDMI2 TV/CBL input. Keeping the signal path all digital (HDMI) will give you a better picture quality than forcing several analog to digital conversions (component video is analog).

4A. To use the component connection, first test by connecting the STB directly to the TV via component video/audio if possible. This tests that the component video output of the STB is working correctly.

Next, remove direct connection and connect via receiver. Connect STB to receiver as shown on page 13 in manual. Connect component video output from STB to component video input #2 (tv/cbl) on receiver. Connect the STB audio output to the corresponding tv/cbl audio inputs.

Make sure nothing is connected to the HDMI2 input or to any other TV/CBL inputs (composite video, s-video, digital coax audio).

Now select the TV/CBL input and turn on the STB. You should have both audio & video.

Cannot get a connection with HDMI input

When the tv won't scroll to the HDMI inputs, it means that the tv does not detect a signal on those inputs. This either means the tv has an issue and can't receive an HDMI signal(very unlikely) or there is no signal being sent from the source(converter box) The first thing I would do is unplug all output connections from the box except for the HDMI output and see if this gets rid of your problem. If not, I would be more inclined to think you have a problem with your converter box than with your TV. You could also try using the HDMI ouput of a DVD player if you have one.

No HDMI video output from AVR-588 receiver to plasma TV ???

the avr-588 apparently cannot carry sound via hdmi - don't know why; just what i found out from the geek squad at best buy; solved the problem by connecting optical cable from cable box to receiver; be sure to change the input on the receiver for opt-2 (system setup >2 inputs) to correlate with tv
