Question about Kenmore 19365 Computerized Sewing Machine

1 Answer

I would like to learn how to clean and oil my Kenmore model 19365 sewing machine plus any other routine maintainence. I also am having prolems with my bobbins not staying in the bobbincase while sewing. I was sewing 4 layers of duckcloth fabric. The machine would jam or the thread would break and I could hear the bobbin moving or flopping around in the bobbincase. The automatic machine shutdown would occur. I have taken the bobbincase out and cleaned out dust and loose threads but the problem soon reoccurs.

If, I were you I would take my machine to the Sears sewing machine department and ask the salesperson how to do these things. They are usually very helpful, and if you need a manual they can order it for you. Do not be afraid to ask for help because just remember the only dumb question is the one that isn't asked.

Does the kenmore elite sewing machine model # 19005need to be oiled

The Kenmore Elite 385.19005 does not need to be oiled. Like most sewing machines with a touch screen/computerized control, the sewing machine has sealed bearings. The manual is available from SearsPartsDirect: https://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/user-manuals/38519005-kenmore-elite-parts-manual . See page 76 for the routine maintenance required for the machine.

I hope this helps.

This Kenmore 158.480's stitch selector is stuck and will not adjust to zig-zag. Need advice or a free service manual. I will gift this machine to a young girl just starting to learn how to sew. Thanks

These old Kenmores are great machines (wish I'd kept mine). But they do love to be oiled and cleaned regularly. The old oil has probably dried and causing it to seize. Treat the machine well and it will serve you, or the lucky young lady, for years to come.

Wheel on right side that controls the needle up and down is very tight...

FWIW, you may want to show the young lady how to clean and oil her machine to keep it in running condition. If she is going to own a machine, she should know how to maintain it.

Be sure to stress that the presser foot should ALWAYS be RAISED when threading the top thread. This will prevent those dreaded thread nests under the fabric when she first begins to sew.

Check with Sears. They carry manuals for a lot of their machines--sometimes even free download. However, the manual will not provide instructions for a thorough oiling (as described above), because at the time companies thought the machines would be brought in to their facility for service. Evenso, a manual is a definite "must have."

Singer sewing machine model # 158.523 manuals

Sears has manuals for most of their products, including sewing machines. Probably not free, but the price would be justified to learn how to use and maintain the machine, ie cleaning and oiling.

Where do I oil Kenmore Model No 385 16221 can't find it in the manual

Page 94 of the manual:

Kenmore 385 16221 Owner Manual Table Of Contents

FWIW, it is important to keep your machine clean and oiled for it to operate properly. Use ONLY good quality sewing machine oil and apply ONLY 1-2 drops every place indicated, approximately every 40 hours of sewing time.

Hi i want to buy a sewing machine wich one is best. kenmore or brothers sewing machine

Hi,

I would prefer Kenmore, enmore makes perhaps the largest selection of mechanical machines. The very cheapest Kenmore sewing machines, like the Kenmore Mini (*est. $100) and Kenmore 15208 (*est. $120), stick with a four-step buttonhole, and have just six and eight stitches, respectively. The Kenmore 15212 (*est. $150) and Kenmore 15218 (*est. $170) both have a one-step buttonhole. The cheaper Kenmore 15212 has 12 stitches. The slightly more expensive model has 18 stitches, including a smocking stitch, overcast and elastic stretch stitch in addition to the basics. Both Kenmore sewing machines are good, basic models, say reviews. Both have just a 90-day warranty, however. Bear in mind that Kenmore sewing machines are made by different Asian companies each year, resulting in varying degrees of quality; this also explains the low prices. Some users report difficulty with tension and light fabrics.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!
