It sounds like the magnetron may have either failed or is not being supplied with the extremely high voltage required to run it.
Make sure the !!!!capacitor is discharged!!!!! before attempting any sort of repair.
Check the door interlock switches first then the high voltage diode with either an AVO model 8 on high resistance range for short circuit, the capacitor can fail and go short circuit, the feed fuse on the primary of the high voltage transformer and then finally, the magnetron is best checked by substitution.
Hope that helps.

Microwave oven wont heat

If the microwave oven is 7 years old or less the most likely problem is the magnetron, or the inverter board, cost consideration should be carefully thought out.

Ihave a Jenn-Air JMV8196 microwave oven. The clock works, the fan works and the light works. Not sure why the microwave will not come on to cook. Help?

The problem is caused by one of three things, the magnetron "heats food" the high voltage diode "sometimes shorts" or the high voltage capacitor " shorts"

Jenn-Air Microwave Oven (JMC8130DDB) is dead. CB in Main (Box) is OK. Microwave is mounted in a wall cabinet over a Jenn-Air electric self clean Oven. Oven was in "self-clean" when the Microwave...

Hi!
I read your comment about needing to remove the control board to inspect it for damage. Looking at the diag. below, all you need to do is open the oven door and remove the two screws (#2 on diag.) fastening the brackets that hold the board in place and you can take it from there.
1kbron_12.png
Refer to the diag. below If it was me, I would start by turning the breakers for both ovens OFF, then, in getting someone to help me pull the oven out, disconnect the power cord and check the power circuit protection devices like the fuse #4, located above the fan and the power board #25 also located on the back of the unit. Before replacing the blown fuse, inspect the wiring, If the unit is mounted over an oven that was in the Self Cleaning Mode that reaches temps. of about 500 degrees, there is a chance that a wire's insulation melted and shorted the unit.

My Jenn-Air microwave JMV8208AAS will not heat the food and when turn on it makes a loud humming sound.

This is most likely the magnetron, the high voltage capacitor, or the power diode.

For an explanation on how these things are repaired, check out this website.

If all else fails, call an Appliance Repair Technician.

Need New Microwave

Is the interior flaking the only problem with it?

It can be sanded smooth and clean and dried thoroughly, then you can apply some high-temperature appliance paint, available from places like Wal-Mart, Lowe's or Builder's Square.

Otherwise, if you want to replace it, I would suggest contacting Jenn-Air Customer Care here and telling them your model number.

They can probably give you the model number of a new "drop-in" replacement.
