Question about Cyberhome CH-DVD 402 DVD Player

1 Answer

I no longer have the manual for the product and I want to hook it up to my TV via a cable box; we have Charter cable. The cable box is a Motorola and it says Dolby digital on the front of the cable box. In the rear there are two red and white ports and one yellow. How do I go about hooking into the cable box to get it to show up on the TV. I tried hooking red to white from the DVD to both sets of ports on the cable box and that didn't work. FYI: I didn't try hooking together the yellow ports. Thank you. One Severely Technology Challenged individual.

The white, yellow, and red RCA phono jacks on the back are called VGA inputs and outputs. The Red is
right channel audio, The white is for left channel audio. The yellow is the video. Look carefully on the back of the unit and the input jacks and output jacks should be clearly marked.

There are several other input/output ports. One is HDMI which is flat and wide. Another, not common, is composite video which uses the three above mentioned RCA jacks as indicated plus two more colored jacks. This combination gives a better picture.

A third option is a screwed on cable for input and output. This is called a "F" connector and is only used if the receiver equipment has a built in tuner. The output of a cable box is usually an "F" connector and the above described outputs

If you connect the cable box to the DVD player input and the DVD player output to the TV input, you often must have the DVD player turned on so the signal will feed to the TV.

If the TV has multiple inputs, it is best to connect the cable box to one of the TV inputs and the DVD player to another TV input. Using the TV remote you can chose which input you want to watch. The remote should have a button labeled "input"

SOURCE: Trouble with my cyberhome ch-dvd 300

I have the same model player it pauses some of the times on some disks in some locations, I read at videohelp.com a resolution for this for skip frames for those who use PAL and mine skip frames after pausing though I have not tried PAL perhaps this remote code solution might fix this or some have had firmware updates though I could not find any firmware updates as any solution by CyberHome being this happens only happens some of the time it might not be possible to resolve this and taking it to a repair shop likely would not be worth it I am unsure if some software versions helps this Please let me know what you find out, okay? move the red and yellow over to the other inputs, you will get sound. I have a black and white picture too. It used to be color. Haven't figured that part out yet.

Try going into player's menu, and set video out or TV type to NTSC.
It might have switched to PAL, or disc is PAL and player is set to any.

Will Netflix work on any TV?

You'll need a device that hosts the Netflix app. This might be a Smart Blu-ray player, or a media streaming box, or a Google Chromecast. I don't know about Charter Cable. Does their box have Apps. Is one of them Netflix?

As long as you have decent broadband speed, and an unlimited service, then running the Netflix app via a host device will work for you.

what are you trying to do? to hook up the tv you can use the cable output from the charter box into cable input into the tv (meaning cable as in coax cable) otherwise you can use the colored ones. red white an yellow are rca jacks but the 5 wire you talking about are prob compondent cables which are red green and blue. connect those to the tv and the other red and white ones are for audio to the tv you may have to set the charter box to select which output you are using and the tv to the right input for the rca it will prob be input 1 for the component it will be component 1
let me know if thats what you needed

Which cable box do you have? Is it Motorola or Scientific Atlanta?

If it is Motorola then press turn the power off then press the menu button. There should be a setting for ypbr output and use the left and or right arrow button on the remote to change this setting to 1080i

Need help hooking up TV, BluRay, Home Theatre & cable box

I found that since the Panasonic TH50PZ80U TV has only 2 HDMI ports on the back of the TV, the best solution for me was to use component (red, blue, green) cables to connect the Home Theatre to the TV. I suppose I/you could connect the home theatre to the HDMI port on the front panel, but I don't want cables hanging out the front of the TV (personal preference). Unfortunately, I am no longer able to use the VIERA Link functionality available by connecting all Panasonic components to each other using HDMI cables, but I feel it's a small price to pay for the incredible picture quality acheived by using the HDMI cable to connect the HD Cable Box to the TV. I may yet be able to control everything using the HD Cable Box remote, but I haven't gotten that far yet but I've got Comcast coming on Saturday and hopefully they can let me know if this is possible: let me know if you have a solution.

So here are the components and the cable types used to connect:
  1. HD Cable Box to TV: HDMI cable & Optical Audio cable
  2. Home Theatre to TV: Red, Blue & Green component cables
  3. BluRay Player to TV: HDMI cable
I hope this helps someone else.
