To remove the top you have to remove the clear plactic covers with the rainbow name. Under there there is 2 clips on each side. There is also to small clips on the front side of the vacuum. These are verry mall and are on the sides of the little knoll on the front of the vacuum

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. On the Rainbow E Series there really is no actual filter – the water is the filter for this particular vacuum. Before you remove the separator under the motor, place a newspaper or towel under the Rainbow without the water pan under the vacuum and then turn it on for a short period of time and spin the water moisture out of the motor and separator; then some of the maintenance is to remove the separator under the motor and clean that and then replace it. As far as replacing the cord there are screws under the Rainbow that need removal and then you can get to the end of the cord for replacement. The easiest way is to mark your wires and the cord will be much easier to replace otherwise check the owner’s manual for cord replacement or check with your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or to cal the cust serv @ the Rainbow factory for questions.

Rainbow e series will not turn on. Was working fine last time I used it.

There is a switch that is pushed in by a little plastic tab on the water tank when the machine is placed on the water tank. If the tab is broken off or the tank is not installed properly the vacuum will not run.

My rainbow e-series canister vacuum cleaner has a horrible smell. i cleaned out the water tray and it STILL smells horrible. how do i fix this problem?

Get a new hepa filter.

It is at the back side of it, behind that rectangular cover, where the exhaust cover is. It either snaps off with two plastic tabs on the bottom of it, or has two screws on the bottom of it, and two screws behind the cord holder taps thing. If it is that kind, the cord holder tabs thing, snaps off with a flat head screw driver on either side of it. You will see the little slots on it, if it is the kind with the screws on the filter cover. Two screws behind the cord holder tabs thing, towards the top of the filter cover, and two on the bottom of the filter cover.

Always clean your water separator with a tooth brush, or Rainbow separator cleaning brush. If it has it, it is by the water separator in a special slot for it, rite there by the water separator. If not, use a tooth brush. They are just alike. The separator nut, is a half inch, or 13 milimeter size of a nut.

Thank you,
Ralph

How to remove an old Rainbow E Series Cooling Filter

The motor filter is under the top cover.
Caution: Be sure your vacuum is unplugged from the electrical outlet before proceeding! There are 2 screws on each side of the top cover of the Rainbow ‘E’ series vacuum cleaners located behind the decals. To get to the screws; use a non-scratching tool such as a plastic putty knife and pry out a corner of the plastic window, carefully pull out the plastic window and decal and remove the 2 screws. Repeat this process for both windows and then just lift up the top cover to expose the inside.

I don't know how to take apart me Rainbow e2 series vac.

I recently took mine apart because the motor stopped working. Realized the brushes were pretty well worn down and one side was completely gone. I was looking on the internet for detailed instructions on how to take it apart. I ended up just ripping it apart with no problems but made a tutorial to help you guys out. Here's a link to it

http://www.vacuumcleanerforum.com/f20/21715-how-take-your-rainbow-vaccum-apart.html

This is for the e-series vaccum, not the e2 but they pretty much have the same design and same motor (e2 has a 2 stage motor).

Let me know if you have any questions

Need to know how to install rainbow water pan latch and spring latch

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Rainbow E Series Canister Wet/Dry Vacuum. The Rainbow latch can be replaced but I believe it is a pop rivet that holds and replaces the old latch and to replace the new latch, I have seen it done but if you don’t have the right tools you may want to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area, it can be done. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

Changing the filter in Rainbow e series

Some of the e-series has a corrugated filter in the top section. To get to it, remove the clear plastic panels that are the sides. Most have 3 screws on each side to move, then the top half will come loose. There also is filter on the back, there is a door to remove to get to it.

I can't take apart the Rainbow Rainmate to clean it.

The E series has a clear plastic window on each side that you remove to get to the screws, remove them and it will come apart. Some will have tabs instead of screws.
