My camera says the my memory card is locked.?? i dont no how to unlock it My Ixus 70 says my card is locked, but the card is NOT locked (button on the side of the card is in unlock position). The camera still indicates card locked with a new card inserted. same thing, sd500 ,error says memory card locked and it is not ! how do we correct Memory card says card locked, but when checking the lock/unlock button, lock is off.
I had the same problem - just put the lock button of the card to the lock position and than again to the unlock position

Its a tab on the memory card that needs to be slid to the opposite position

There is a tiny button on the side of the card - so small you can hardly see it. Just slide it up and voila All is solved.
It is frustrating as there is nothing in the manual bout this and the onl line assistance wants to charge for 20 seconds advice Mine is free dorothy

Take the card out. On the left side of the card is a tiny white switch. Reverse the position.

I have exactly the same problem. Ixus 70 is only a few months old. Will be taking it to the shop this afternoon.

I have the same problem except my camera is a Canon Power Shot A720 IS. I can read the cards when I put them into my computer which tells me that it must be something in the camera that will not unlock the card. Any suggestions will be helpful.
Memory card locked. Even with a new memory card. I also adjusted the switch on the memory card.
I have the same problem with my A430.
It's a 4gb, and despite trying it with the unlock and the lock position, it won't work.
The SD card used was straight from the package.
I have the same issue with my Canon Powershot SX10IS. I bought a new memory card, it says the same thing, so it is the camera, not the memory card. I have slide that tab, still no luck with it working.
