sounds like coupler is out but unit should still drain unless motor locked. remove cabinet (2 brass clips under console) and check pump (up front) and coupler (behind motor). set to spin and tub wont move with coupler out but pump will run

Won't agitate or spin
If you mean that when the unit should be agitating or spinning the motor is running, and you lift the lid causing the motor to stop running, it sounds like the coupler.

Washer motor spins but the TUB does not (intermittent)
If the motor is running and the tub is not spinning you must remove the motor and inspect the drive coupling.
One of the 2 plastic pieces could be stripped or cracked.
If the drive coupling is intact, proceed to the clutch on top of the transmission.
Replace the clutch linings.

Washer go though all cycles but no spin
the motor operates off the timer cams inside the timer. in the wash mode the agitator turns in one direction. when it calls for tub empty the motor reverses direction and actuates the pump. at this stage the tub should spin. sounds like the timer is bad for this one function. timers cost around $120. (mechanical timers)
