There was no instrucitons manual on how to put the lens together and see put of the lens and also there was no cd like it said on the box .

The len that reads the cd needs to be cleaned. I have done this on numerous stereos. Take the unit out of the vehicle, take the top cover off by removing the small screws that hold it in place. you will see what looks like a small eyeball where the cd is when its in the player,thats the lens. Take a cotton swab and some alcohol and clean the lens, put stereo back together. If the plug will reach, plug in the stereo with out installing it in the dash and try it out, the cd should work if not then you have other problems with the stereo.

The lens must have gone dirty thus is hardly reads the discs. Try to run a disc cleaner and let it spin for like 30 seconds. If that does not work, then you need to clean the lens manually by removing the cdrom from the computer and taking off the casing of the cdrom. Unscrew the plastic plate covering the lens. Then damp a qtip in an alcohol ang gently wipe the lens in a circular manner. Let it dry and put back everything together. Now try playing those discs again.

3 ways to fix this.

1. Buy a CD cleaner, it is a cd that has little brushes on it that clean the lens as it spins. Can buy one for under $20

2. You will need a can of compressed air for electronics. Open up your cd tray and pull the power from your 360. Push the tray half way in and position the nozzle extender for the can of air right at the cd lens and give it a few blasts of air. It may take a few times to get the nozzle in the right place.

3. Disassemble your 360 (will void warranty) and take the DVD drive out of it. After the drive is removed you can remove the cover to the drive and manually clean the lens. Put it all back together and you are back to playing games and reading disks.

The optical lens assembly is damaged at this point. the lens has burned out and the tracking/load motor seems to be faulty as well. replace the optical lens asap.

Ok if you insist to do that here it is;

If DVD rom cleaning kit fails. Take it out, remove screws holding the top cover, take out other obstructions on top of lens. Get isoprophyl alcohol at 70 percent alcohol/ or the dvd cleaning fluid put enough amount to a cotton bud clean the top lens in circular motion, only enough pressure. Let it dry, is the lens clear enough, if ok. Put everything back together. Test it.

it is difficult to put back the lens assembly if you don't have any experience....you may damage the gear and the flexwire if you not properly align the lens...since you already open the lens try to not damage the gear and flexwire...dont' apply some power to the motor...just a manual operation to the lens when you align it...

TRY CLEANING THE LENS WITH A CD CLEANER OR do it manully with a bit of Vodka and a cotton bud carefully clean the lens in a circle motion then carefully dry the lens with the other end of the cotton bud put it all back together and see if that works
