No display when starting after installing in new machine. I bought TWO ECS MCP61M-M3 motherboards for my kids for Christmas and have the same problem with BOTH. This is in a completely new computer build. All new components prior to installing any operating system. When I start the computer the the CPU fan starts, the CD ROM Drive light goes on and it seems like the hard drive is starting to spin. THERE IS NO DISPLAY. There are no "beep" sounds, but that may be due to the speaker connection. The speaker I have has a red and black wire in a plug that only connects to pins 1 & 4 on the internal speaker header on the motherboard. There is nothing on the screen when I turn the computer on using the button on the front panel connected to the motherboard. This occurs regardless if the monitor is connected to the on-board video plug or to the video card I installed. Also have the same problem if I remove the video card and just use the on-board video. Same problem with both boards that have different CPUs, power supplies, etc. Only thing the owner's manual says is that if there are no "beeps" then the motherboard is bad. Cannot see how that could be with two different new motherboards. Please help

First thing I would do is try using the monitor on another working computer to see if it works. If so, you have eliminated that as an issue.

Kind of hard to fathom that you got two fubar mo bo's but as they stay in the street, sh-- happens. However, The lack of a beep means that the bios is not posting. When you turn on a computer, the bios does a check of internal components and environment - if all is ok, it beeps and then has the hard drive install the operating system into the computer's memory. And if something is wrong, the bios will usually give out certain beeps that are coded such as when you have bad memory, no memory, etc. But you are getting zippo, and no video at all on your monitor - this is one of the few times you wish you had the blue screen of ***** because with that at least you know your hardware is ok but your software has an issue.
The conditions you have reported would seem to indicate that the bios chips on both units are corrupted and not working. U might also make sure that the memory chips are good. A bad chip, not a missing chip, will sometimes prevent the mo bo from booting up.

If you also remove all the memory and turn on the witch, if the bios is working it will beep like crazy. If nada, bios is dead.

If boards are new as you indicate I would return for exchange.

Your computer has memory problems. First check the video. If video is working, you'll see an error message. If not, you have a parity error in your first 64K of memory. First check your SIMM's. Reseat them and reboot. If this doesn't do it, the memory chips may be bad or they are mismatched .The CAS latency has to be the same and compatible with your M/B. You can try switching the first and second banks memory chips. First banks are the memory banks that your CPU finds its first 64K of base memory in. You'll need to consult your manual to see which bank is first. If all your memory tests good, you probably need to buy another motherboard.

If the RAM is incompatible with your board then yes it would not allow a boot. Make sure your front panel power wire is plugged into the proper spot on the motherboard and retry. If it's the RAM then you will still have the problem. If it was the wire loose or in wrong spot then it should work. Hope this helps & please remember to rate my answer. Thanks.

Depending on your processor type and speed as well as ram, to save you a headache go to http://pricewatch.com and order a new motherboard with warranty, cd and manual.

MCP61M-M3 V7.1 no boot

difficult, did you try 32 bit on the HDD?, if this fails to, then the IDE/SATA controller on the board or the traces that link the controller to the southbridge may be damaged, if you have one, or can afford one, try a new board, if this fails, then it's your hard disk!

you sound like youre familiar with computer. but have you checked your ram? back in the day there used be jumpers. i dont believe this newer model would have anything like that but doesnt hurt to check. also are the power supplies compatible (enough juice)? usually when i try and narrow down an issue i unplug everything cdrom, video card, one stick of ram at a time, etc.. i know this isnt a solution but hopefully it helps you to troubleshoot.
