My Tripp Lite 1500 rm2u (smart pro) does not charge the new batteries. they start to discharge as soon as it's powered up. Tripp lite says to thro it out....

Follow what Tripp Lite says. Sounds like you have a faulty unit.

Green lite will not on . when unit is pluged in

press reset+power for 20 seconds, then release reset ank keep pressing power, it will turn on for 10-20 secs, in this time you must connect it to the pc. run tomtom home and make the upgrades that the program sais. must help.
