Sorry but this receiver has no HDMI inputs or outputs. I believe you have to step up to the TX-SR803 before you get any HDMI capabilities. Good luck.

What is the best way to connect the ONKYO TX SR708 to a SONY XRB TV & HD DVR H-20. I have a HDMI Cables. I currently have the HDMI coming directly to the HDVR and then Optical to the Receiver. i just...

HDMI is indeed the best.
After your HDMI, a digital form of audio connection is best - optical is one form of digital. Coax is another, and if using coax make sure you use a good cable.
Sounds to me like you have got it right.
Plenty of dedicated audio forums out there too, such as www dtvforum.info where there is loads of info.
Save you looking, just sit back and enjoy your system!
Happy day.

No Signal on sub preout on my Onkyo TX-SR703 AVR

Well the next step would be to make sure that all the settings are set to subwoofer yes, and set your crossover as well.  The amp usually has a crossover which tells the microprocessor which frequencys to send to the sub.

Onkyo tx-sr606 can not get it to work w tv using hdmi cables

try using a HDMI cable connecting the receiver from the "out" to the tv, then allocate through the setup menu what you have connected, say a cable box by hdmi, you would go to cable/sat allocate the port "hdmi1 or coax 1" then return. If it is a dvd click on dvd then allocate eg: "hdmi 2" then return.
