SOURCE: IR receiver on unit not working?
Sounds to me like the issue is the rx in the unit. It can be fixed with very little work if you can locate the part. Let me take a look and see if I can locate the part number for you. Although I have to say that Kenwwod can keep a tight lip on their parts lists.

SOURCE: no sound from speakers
check to make sure you have your speakers turned "ON" many amps have "A" and "B" speakers or 1 and 2 and then check the back to make sure no wires are touching and determine what output you are using for your speakers.... also you have to make sure that that corresponding button is depressed for those speakers.... also check you have the correct input selceted for your speakers and that no wires are crossed..... theres is probably notihng wrong with the speakers you just need to paly with your amp

Over time the remote can become dirty from spills or potato chip debris.... This can cause the carbon pads to be on and the remote is giving a continuous command, effectively stopping it from working. Take it apart and clean carefully with rubbing alcohol and swab sparingly....
