I have a Sony PS-313FA turntable that I havent used for a while. When I used last week the speed for 33 or 45 RPM is a lot faster than what is should be and te records do not sound properly.
It has a ptich control that doesnt seem to help and changing speed from 45 to 33 slows it down but still way to fast.
How to fix this?
Regards.
Emmett

It's likely the belt has come off the correct position. It would need to be adjusted. One reason it's moved is that it needs replacing, because it's too slack.
try adjusting the anti skating device near the main tonearm pivot? set it another notch and try it again? if not repeat by setting another notch till your happy with the playback?
I have a different Sony model (PS-LX-150H) that had a similar problem. I hadn't used it in awhile, and then when I did, I noticed the speed problem.
IF your PS-LX250 is like my PS-LX150, there are small speed adjustment screws accessible from the bottom of the unit. On mine, the two adjustment screws were labeled - one for 33rpm, the other for 45 rpm. Basically I just fiddled a bit with them using a very small precision screw driver until I could verify that I had reached 33 rpm (I used a stopwatch and literally counted the number of rotations/minute after making adjustments.)
The motor for the unit might be dying out. There really aren't any other factors that control the speed/rpm of these belt driven models. So if the belt didn't do the trick, you will have to take it to a service center to test the motor.
check the switch that make the lp running located it on the arm (arm uses to put it on the LP)
check the motor
Make sure no debris whatsoever that can disrupt the LP to turn
Belt or belts needs replacing. Happens when they get worn. Happen a lot in the days before CD's. Fairly simple to replace if you are mechanically inclined or have some one do it for you.
I think its a 3 prong IC chip that might be burned out. Its next to the power supply. You'll need to take it apart to see the replacement number on the chip. This is a belt drive unit, you can take the platter (the turntable itself) off and check inside. You can download the manual here: http://www.docs.sony.com/release/PSLX250Hrevision.pdf
I hope this helps. Good luck :)
