Cisco catalyst 3500xl (24 port) bad console

I have a 3500 xl and the console port doesnt work. The LED's indicate that the switch is booting up and working.

I have moved laptop and console cable (rollover) from this switch to another and it works. So the console port on this one is not working.

How do I find a schematic or something that indicates how I can bypass or workaround this.

Thanks

It is possible that your console port is configured for a different baud rate. Try to change your baud rate on your hyper terminal going from 115200 down to 2400. If it doesn't work you might have a problem with 232 driver chip that is located on the board next to your console port. You will not be able to find a schematics for this switch, it is not available for the public.
You can send this switch to me. I will glad to fix it for you.

Good luck.

I forgot a password and i cant access a catalyst 2960 24-port 10/10

You can only reset password this way:
1.
Attach a terminal or PC with terminal emulation (for example, Hyper Terminal) to the console port of the switch.
Use the following terminal settings:
  • Bits per second (baud): 9600
  • Data bits: 8
  • Parity: None
  • Stop bits: 1
  • Flow Control: Xon/Xoff
2.Unplug the power cable.
3. Hold down the mode button located on the left side of the front panel, while you reconnect the power cable to the switch
4. Release the Mode button when the SYST LED blinks amber and then turns solid green. When you release the Mode button, the SYST LED blinks green.
5. switch: flash_init
6. switch: load_helper
7. switch: dir flash:
8. switch: rename flash:config.text flash:config.old
Rename config.text to config.old. In that file the password is stored.
9. switch: boot
10. Enter "n" at the prompt to abort the initial configuration dialog
11. Type en to enable
12. Switch#rename flash:config.old flash:config.text
13. Switch#copy flash:config.text system:running-config
14. Overwrite the current passwords:
conf term
enable secret <new pass>
enable password <new pass>
line vty 0 15
password <new pass>
login
line con 0
password <new pass>

15. write memory
16. copy run start

HAVE 24 PORT CISCO CATALYST 2960 SERIES SI ,HOW TO PUT IT BACK TO FACTORY SETING SO I CAN USE ALL 24 PORTS WITHOUT MANAGE..???

Due to the length of the solution I have provided you with a link to the Cisco site on how to reset catalyst switches.

It is not a simple process and you need to read the instructions carefully.

Can't console cisco catalyst 3500

It's possible that the management port is on another VLAN or is not enabled. Your most reliable bet is to try a serial connection to console in.

Alternatively, there is a procedure that will work even if you don't know the password:

Default pasword

Cisco switches dont have a default password.
You will have to perform a password recovery process that is quite extensive.
You need to console into the switch using hyperterminal or teraterm and follow these instructions located at: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/switches/ps628/products_password_recovery09186a0080094184.shtml
