Try this, it worked for my Sony handycam:

HERE'S WHAT WORKED FOR ME PER SONY TECHS:
Take?»¿ OUT the battery or disconnect the AC cord.
Turn the camera ON (tape, memory, edit settings) for 15 seconds.
Turn camera to off setting.
Plug battery or AC cord back in.
VOILA!
Worked for me and I had the stupid C32:11 error code for weeks! Door would not close. Followed the SIMPLE and SAFE instructions and IT WORKED! Just like magic. I couldn't believe it! Save your money TRY THIS!

From your win 7 computer go to the sony website, click on support, click on drivers and software, enter your model number, follow prompts to get correct software.

Tape door won't open or close to release tape

Sony Handycam CCD-TRV58 Hi-8 Analog Camcorder
1. Per the manual on esupport.sony.com
- if the power is disconnected door won't open, and if the battery is the dead the door won't open.
Plug it in and hopefully you can get the tape out.

Tape bay does not close

Something is either clogged in the tape bay mechanism or there is something actually in the space it occupies.

big problem with sony as you can see im a pro tech but had the same fault with mine. and it broke my heart 4 weeks old and sony dont give a dam ironicly a mate told me slam my fist under the bottom and it will close after hrs of trying to fix it i took his stupid advice and after many hits it closed and worked great for a few weeks

I have a Sony Handycam DCR-HC-48 and the tape door won't close along with a 32.11 error code.....HELP

Try these steps:

1. Open the tape cover fully until it clicks open.
2. Turn the camcorder on to "VCR Mode."
3. With the cover still open and the camera in "VCR mode," take out the battery.
4. Put the battery back in--out should pop your tape.
