I have Windows 7, I put the CD ROM into the driver, but nothing popped up, and nothing is happening. It does say however, that I need to put it in a port that is high speed? I have no idea what that means.

Oh mind you that other computers or systems are only designed for Windows XP and the Drivers that are installed on that machine are XP compartible. Now that you are using windows 7, it could be an issue that Windows 7 operating system does not recognize the device being your CD drive.. You need to go on the HP official website and look for the drivers (the whole packge ) for your computer model and check if Windows 7 operating system is compartible with the machine. Acer aspire 5315 notebook i put a new hardrive in my computer what do i do next to get it working afriend tried to down load windows7 but nothing is happening

Hello John,

Please confirm whether this new Hard drive is a secondary Harddrive, or this is the Primary (only) HARDDRIVE.
If it is secondary then it should work automatically as soon as you connected it through the USB Channel.
If it is primary, then after connecting the HDD, You need to put the Auto installable CD/DVD of windows 7 in the CD rom. It should detect the CD/DVD and startinstalling the windows 7.
Just follow the steps which comes your screen and it will be done.

Hi I'm Rain ,
Ok follow these instructions to reboot your CD Rom drive.

  1. click start then My Computer .
  2. In My Computer right click the DVD/CD rom drive icon .
  3. In the list , Click eject to see if the drive is being reconized .
  4. If nothing happens repeat steps 1-2
Now when you get to sep 3 you will click properties .

5. In properties click Hardware .

6. In Hardware click the DVD/CD device to highlight it .

7. Click properties .

Now look to the bottom of that window to see device status .
If it says , this device is working properly .Properties .
Next click Driver . In driver you will see a list of option tabs that allows you to , Roll Back driver Update driver and Disable driver .
The other option is Driver Details.

Click Roll Back driver to restore the driver back to the state before you added the latest program . Click ok and follow the screen instructions.
If this fails , you can follow these steps to get back to Driver and chose
Disable Driver . Click ok if another window pops up.
Now what you are doing is rebooting the DVD/CD rom drive.
This will restart all the drivers that are associated with the DVD/CD rom
device .
Now follow all the steps again to get back to Driver .
Now in Driver you will need to click Enable to restart the DVD/CD rom
device . Reboot your system and try the DVD/ CD tray to see if it responds . If it still fails to respond you most likely will need to replace or service the DVD/CD Rom Hardware { the Tray } .

Try deleting it in the device manager and then reboot your computer to see if it will detect it, then when it asks, point it to the driver.
