There is no solution - eventually the entire picture will turn blue. It's out of warranty and replacement of the light engine is way too expensive. Start shopping for another tv - I did

Change lamp on 50v500a digital ultravision

To change the lamp on your Hitachi 50V500A Digital Ultravision TV, please follow these steps:
  1. Turn off the TV and unplug it from the power source.
  2. Locate the lamp cover on the back of the TV. It is a small plastic cover held in place by a screw.
  3. Use a screwdriver to remove the screw and take off the lamp cover.
  4. Locate the lamp cartridge and pull the handle to remove it from the TV.
  5. Unscrew the lamp cartridge and remove the old lamp.
  6. Insert the new lamp into the cartridge and screw it back in place.
  7. Reinsert the lamp cartridge into the TV and push it all the way in until the handle clicks into place.
  8. Replace the lamp cover and screw it back in place.
  9. Plug the TV back in and turn it on. Check to make sure the new lamp is working properly.
It is recommended to refer to the user manual or seek professional help if you are not comfortable doing this yourself.

Hitachi ultravision 50V500A screen dim

The model indicated is a DLP rear projection and uses a "lamp" for brightness.

If it has not been changed for a while it should be on the right side of the set behind a removable plate. Check your owners manual if you have it.

Life span varies but 2,000 hours is normal.

Let me know if you need any further assistance as I am here to help.

I have a hitachi tv model number 50V500A the

go to the menu screen and select picture mode/menu and you should see the option to make changes to colors selection. You can also try and find one of your DVD's that has THX listed on the case. These DVD's have a calibration program included in the disc which can assist you with fixing the color issue

50" Hitachi Ultravision LCD

Good Day, imfamous44;

This is common for the HIT LCD projection. In most cases, I've seen, the manufacture will cover the cost of the "light engine", but you will have to call them and express your concern. 90% of the time they will cover this, be nice but firm.

Good Luck, big IRISH.
