Your TV most likely has one of two possible problems.

Problem #1: Convergence Chip Failure ( common problem )

Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos of a convergence problem

  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
  • No Audio/Video - TV Makes Chirping Sound

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move tHear chirping sound from power switch, keeps tying - 2c07611.pngdirections your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors. Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together a kits for most models. If you don't see a kit for your set send them a quick note and they will put one together for you. Their kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, etc.

Problem #2 CRT Fluid is Cloudy

Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around imaHear chirping sound from power switch, keeps tying - 578ba6c.jpg

Stop horn from beeping on every action

You can delete the chirp from the unit: turn the ignition on, then off, press and release the programming switch three (3) times. You should hear two chirps. You should hear no sound from the unit now when commands are sent. You can put the chirps back in the same manner.

Picture keeps flickering after 15 min

if you hear chirping, too, replace the colorwheel. also check the lamp timer. if it's close to 2000hours (or the inside of the lamp is bulging or blackened), replace the lamp. if the lamp is new and the colorwheel doesn't chirp, replace the ballast/power supply.

Rca hd52w59 chirping sound and light 3 times no picture

chirping sound is a short of some kind, could be the flyack or horizontal output, could also be a bad picture tube or power supply capacitors, you really need a tv repairman to troubleshoot this.

RCA 32 in TV no picture no sound just a beeping noise TV power is on

Hello cote,

This indicates a problem in the power supply either the low voltage switching supply or the High voltage power supply. The sounds you hear is the shutdown circuit activating, I would not suggest that you try to repair this problem because of the dangers involved. I would suggest that you take it to a qualified TV repair shop. This problem should not cost you much, however it is the best choice for the problem you described.

I hope this helps,
Thank you,

Zenith iqc50h95 50 in rear proj

Rainman, can`t really be of any great help on this one, both techs can be right, the chirp is exactly as you thought, the set is trying to come on but there is a short in the set and it`s shutting down because of the short, could be convergence, low voltage power supply, high voltage power supply, until a tech gets in there and starts un-loading circuits it`s impossible to say where the short is, gonna have to call someone out for this one, good luck with it, BMW Rider

TV will not switch on

It sounds like you may be on the right track. Also you could have a problem in your Horizontal Deflection circuit. Since you say it flickered, you may have a solder joint that was arcing. Probably in the horizontal circuit. I found a capacitor which was arcing in this circuit. I was a small disk type. NOW since it is chirping, the horizontal output transistor may have shorted placing too much of a load on your power supply. The noise you hear is the power suppply trying to start. Stargazer

Green Power light blinks but no picture or sound with a chirping noise

That chirp is your ballast trying to fire the lamp. Sounds to me like you need a new lamp. The model should be TY-LA1000. Keep in mind though that the ballast could also be faulty, but 85% of the time it's a lamp. Pull the cover off the unit and remove the lamp. More often than not, when the lamp goes it'll actually break and be obvious.

PT-43LC14 No Picture, chirping sound when turned on

Most of the time, when there is a chirping comming from a TV set, there is a short somewhere inside the TV set. That chirping noise is the TV's power supply starting up and shutting down because of a heavy load on the power supply. These sets have no user replaceable parts inside them, so play it safe, and call out a pro to assist you in this repair. good Luck PS Please do not forget to rate this thread.
