That phone doesnt use sim cards. In the U.S., there are two different cellular technologies: CDMA and GSM (most of the rest of the world uses GSM). Up until 4G-LTE came along, CDMA phones didnt use sim cards. The cdm7176 is an older CDMA phone and thus doesn't have a sim slot.
I have a link about how to configure it to Always On mode with ADSL as the connection technology from the ISP. http://www.indiabroadband.net/bsnl-broadband/4545-configuring-utstarcom-wa3002g4.html
If you are using other technology there might be difference on the settings. You can contact your ISP to find out the technology they are using which your modem connects to. You can apply for an additional IP address to improve the performance of your connection too. Make sure you have a filter on every phone line if you are sharing the phone jack with your ADSL connection. Most of time they should have done that when they install the ADSL but just in case.
It looks like Cricket doesn't really support this for windows 7. But the following site has some information from other owners of this modem that seem to have a working solution there. You might want to check it out.
1.Start the install process as normal, you will get to the section that asks you to plug in the um100c. Windows will not automatically install these drivers for you. 2.Leave the setup program running and open up Device Manager 3.Find UTStarcom UM100C under unknown devices. 4.Manually search for the driver in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Cricket\QuickLink Mobile\System\driver". After it installs there will be two more unknown devices in Device Manager. Repeat the manual driver lookup in the same location to install them. 5.After that go back to the setup program, you should now be able to click on Next to finish it.
from the cable modem or dsl connection, connect to WAN on the linksys device From PC port to the computer. you will have to make sure if all the port or opened. Normally DATAONE will not block any ports but its always adviceable to check if all the potrs are opened. you will have to put your mac code on the modem. If that does not work you might have to clone your device (information transfer from modem to your device) and you should be good to go...............
