well to be honest with you it could happen if you purchase a generic bulb they will only last around 1year to 1.5 years always buy Philips the other problem that you may have could be the ballast board if for any reason it is sending to much voltage to the lamp it will make the lamps burn out much faster If you want to fix this problem I would replace the ballast board ( around $60.00dls - $80.00dls) and also replace the lamp ( $115.00dls - $140.00dls ) this store has the Philips lamp
