it is likely that your dvd is defective. I would suggest removing it and ordering one on ebay once you have the model number. They are fairly easy to remove. one screw holding it in either on the bottom of the laptop or under the keyboard

SOURCE: hp 530 notebook will not charge

Try starting the laptop with no battery inside and only the power adapter connected. If it does not start , then you have a faulty dc adapter, or the socket on motherboard has a broken soder joint.

If the laptop starts with DC adapter, then usually you have a faulty battery. There are a couple of other faults on battery charger circuit, but they are quite uncommon.

Boot up problem

HI,

There might be a problem with your cmos/bios setting. Try to set to defaults first.

the bios/cmos menu can be entered by pressing del or F2 or F10 keys during power on (before windows logo appears) depending what type of notebook.

find the boot devive or boot sequence,
select CDROM as the first boot ( or first line)
Save and reboot

good luck

Hp 530 notebook cant boot from a cd drive

There is one possible reason for this issue
  1. CMOS battery
Troubleshooting Steps
Open the computer case and find the battery on the computer motherboard, verify that it will be accessible and that it can be removed. Most computers today use a coin cell CMOS battery. Removed the battery and put it back. This will reset the BIOS setting to default. Change the setting and select first boot device as CD ROM. If that doesn’t work then replace the CMOS battery. After replacing the CMOS battery please change the BIOS setting and select first boot device as CD-ROM.
