If the ThinkPad appears to boot up and the hard disk LED flashes, then the problem could be the back light. This fault can be caused by a faulty inverter or a faulty CCFL lamp. Please click on this link to determine the fault and fix :-

Trying to find my sd card slot on my lenovo sl510

Unfortunately it's not something that can easily be found as we cannot see what you see?
A quick google search has lead me to believe it is on the right hand side of your laptop, near your CD drive, it is a small slot that could be covered with a plastic covering (it protects from dust)

Sl510 keyboard and mosuse not working; on screen keyboard and remte mouse works. Any recommendaton?

You will need to replace the keyboard, but since there is a mouse problem also, I recommend the laptop be checked for motherboard damage by a computer repair shop. What ever moisture got in will need to be cleaned up.

Hallo, I have a Lenovo ThinkPad SL510 2847 and I get unexpected shutdown in a different intervals. It may be for example 10 minutes or 3 hours after the Windows starts. The system is ready to start...

It could be that the machine is overheating, if it's shutting down. Try ensuring that the vents are clear of obstruction, and that they are clean. If you can get to the cooling fan, then ensure that this is also clear. Don't use the laptop on your lap, as this tends to block the cooling vents as well.

It may also be worth checking to see if you get any error messages before it shuts down - in case it's something different (although I know that Windows 7 doesn't have an SP2 yet - so are you using Vista, or 7, SP1?)

When i turn my computer on it starts to load normally then a black screen appears with a picture of a monitor and a lock where i then have to enter a password but i don't know what it is

you might have installed/ activated the login security software by mistake..

try to recall the password.. if it doesnt open then try to access the laptop through LINUX LIVE CD, backup all your data and then format and reinstall the OS. .

if the security software has encrypted the drive then you are screwed till you recall the right password.

I have a genuine lenovo thinkpad sl510 which i bought in kenya and was not sold with operating systems. The web camera is nether working but i have tried to search for its driver online but it is...

What operating system are you currently using?

If you are using MS Windows, here is a link to all the correct win drivers for the lenovo SL510: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-73445.html On this page, click the "software" link, where you will find "Integrated Camera Driver".

If you are using a Linux distro like Ubuntu, the webcam should work automatically, you may just need to configure/activate it using the software you wish to use.

Hope this helps ;)
