It sounds like you have "Wake on LAN" enabled on your computer and you're not really shutting it down, but putting it into Standby mode.
Instead of pressing the power button, select Start ' Shutdown from Windows and allow the notebook to completely shut down.
If you want to be able to put the laptop into Standby without having it wake-up on LAN access, you'll have to change the settings for that.
In Control Panel, select "Network and Internet" or "Network Sharing Center". From here select "Change Adapter Settings"
From the listed adapters, right-mouse click on the adapter that you are using and select "Properties"
Under the "Connect Using" section, click the "Configure..." button.
Click the "Power Management" tab and locate the checkbox labelled "Allow this device to wake the computer" and deselect it.
Press "OK" and close all windows.
Hopefully, your machine will now stay in standby mode.
