It sounds like you have "Wake on LAN" enabled on your computer and you're not really shutting it down, but putting it into Standby mode.
Instead of pressing the power button, select Start ' Shutdown from Windows and allow the notebook to completely shut down.
If you want to be able to put the laptop into Standby without having it wake-up on LAN access, you'll have to change the settings for that.
In Control Panel, select "Network and Internet" or "Network Sharing Center". From here select "Change Adapter Settings"
From the listed adapters, right-mouse click on the adapter that you are using and select "Properties"
Under the "Connect Using" section, click the "Configure..." button.
Click the "Power Management" tab and locate the checkbox labelled "Allow this device to wake the computer" and deselect it.
Press "OK" and close all windows.
Hopefully, your machine will now stay in standby mode.

How do I program this RCA nightclub universal remote for my Samsung smart TV

First understand that you need a little patience with this remote, it's a little slow, it may take a few seconds in between pushing buttons for it to react to your TV.

1)
-Turn on TV manually first.

we're going to try and get the remote paired to your particular tv

2)
-Facing RCA universal remote towards TV, press and hold both the POWER and TV buttons on the remote at the same time.. until the RCA universal remote POWER button lights up and is constantly on.

-Then press the PLAY button on RCA universal remote

(POWER button on remote should be blinking after pressing PLAY -- what the remote is doing is trying to program your TV with a list of codes. if your TV does not automatically shut off after a minute, press the PLAY button again. your TV should shut off. wait a few seconds before trying to press PLAY button again if you need to try again.)

3)
Assuming remote turned off TV. Now let's try to get the remote to turn on your TV

On the remote at top right is a REVERSE button, press that. You should see the POWER button on the remote blink once in response to you doing that.

Watch for the power on light on your TV.. your TV may take a few seconds to power on..

Wait a couple seconds. if your TV has not turned back on, press the REVERSE button again. the POWER button should blink once again in response

If your TV did not turn on. You may have to repeat pushing the REVERSE button waiting a couple seconds for the remote to try turning on your TV. For some people this can take several times, if not a dozen times. Just be sure to be patient and wait a couple seconds in between pressing the REVERSE button again. (what the RCA universal remote is doing is going through a list of codes trying to find the right model to pair to)

4)
Assuming the remote finally turned on your TV.. We are almost done. We programmed the remote to turn off the TV and turn on the TV. now we want to press the STOP button on the RCA universal remote to lock in those codes into the remote. After pressing the STOP button the light on the remote POWER button should turn off.

5)
We are done. You should be able to change the channels and raise and lower the volume of your TV.

MY LAPTOP AFTER 2-3HR WORK SHUTS DOWN AND WONT TURN OFF.i HAVETO PRESS THE START BUTTON TO REBOOT-PRODUCT ACER F5

Just wanted to confirm a few things..
Did you do a hard power down by holding the power button down for 5 seconds or by just briefly pressing the power button (which would put the computer to Sleep).
I've found this laptop occasionally does not properly recover from Sleeping under Win8, that's why I ask.
Either way, do a hard power down by holding the power button for 5 seconds.
Unplug the laptop and find the battery disconnect pinhole switch underneath (indicated with a picture of a battery lifted up) and using a paperclip press and hold for 30 seconds.
Try powering on again, do you atleast get the Acer logo appearing when powering on?

My Toshiba A215 is frozen. The power button does not turn off. Cntrl/alt/del does nothing Mouse and claock are frozen as well. How do I fix? I was trying to download video files to ext hard drive. Window...

hello, press down on power button and hold it for about 10-15 seconds and it should shut-off, wait for about 5 seconds before turning it back on. If for some reason holding down power button doesn't shut it off, then simple unplug the power from the laptop and then flip the laptop upside down and locate the battery eject lever(little slider switch to kick out the battery) slide it to the unlock position and remove battery. Once again wait for about 5 seconds and plug the battery back in and then the power adapter and power on your laptop.
Tip: try copying few files at a time to get a better success rate and avoid any failures.

I hope this helps.
Regards & happy holidays.

My toshiba 1805-s74 will not turn on

Hi Russ,

Sometimes a laptop will appear in a ghost state, not off, or on if you sometimes shut it down, but close the lid too fast. Try pressing and holding the power button for 5-10 seconds. This should turn it off completely. Then give it a few more seconds and press the power button again to turn it back on.

Hope this helps!
David
