Frigidaire FRS23LH5DS9 Side by Side ordered a replacement compressor kit, how do I install

Hello Charlie Hough - Usually this type of information is not release to someone who is not a technician and it is very rare to find enough information to do it yourself. In most cases this information can be found on the internet; however it is not provided directly from the manufacturer. Typically this is something that you want a certified professional to install/remove for you due to safety and liability reasons. They also usually warranty their labor just in case something else may turn out to be the root cause of your initial problem and it does work out better to your advantage. Consider contacting your manufacturer for more details on who in your area can properly repair/install this part (part usually have a 30 day warranty with tech). I would suggest contacting your manufacturer to provide you a listing of authorized technicians in your area whom may guide you through this process.

At idle it is quite but when the compressor kicks on it makes a loud grinding noise.

The condenser fan in the back near the compressor comes on when the compressor comes on. The fan motor is the likely problem. It is easy to replace and inexpensive. Here is a link that should help Condenser fan replacement Spin the fan blade by hand or listen closely when it is making the noise to isolate it.

Now if the fan is not the problem and the noise is coming from the compressor, the compressor will likely need to be replaced. This is hardly ever worth the cost of the repair. You would be better off buying a new unit.

COMPRESSOR NOISE

You probably should replace the start relay before it burns out the compressor terminals.

My Frigidaire #LSR7333PQ has had two compressor failures in 3 yrs

Compressors fail due to:
bad capacitors.
bad start relay.
low voltage.
refrigerant leaks.
refrigerant restrictions.
bad fan motor.
to name a few problems.
You should be under a 5 year seealed system prts and labor warranty.
Call him back out.

Frigidaire FRS26R4A Vibrating Noise

Finally called a service technician. He said the compressor was bad and needs replacing. Fortunately, I'm in the 2nd - 5th year of my limited warranty so parts and labor are covered. He also said that the FRS26R4A is "junk" and it helps to support his family.

Frigidaire humming freezer not cold enough

For the 25 year old freezer: a replacement compressor of the same BTU rating can be obtained and used as a replacement BUT at 25 years old I DO Not recommend the expense of a compressor replacement.

To the owner of the six year old freezer. The buzzing noise is more than likely the compressor cycling on its overload protector. This is an indication that the compressor has failed. In this case also I do not recommend replacing the compressor. If it was in warranty the manufacturer would bear the cost. Replacement compressor come with a one year warranty.

No its nothing you want to attempt. You need special equipment and technical training. I would recommend buying a new refrigerator before spending that much on a repair.

Repair cost.

I have been working in this field for nearly 48 years and I see to many times where people doing service do not have the customers best interest at heart. Get a second opinion and don't tell them what the other quoted.
