SOURCE: Is my monitor dead?

Power light cycling about every second is a sure sign of a switchmode power supply fault, causing it to repeated shut down and then try to restart. Most often this is the result of failed electrolytic capacitors. Assuming you can get the monitor apart without wrecking it (some can be very difficult to separate), the failed electros will show bulging ends and/or leakage of electrolyte. These are normally a straightforward repair job depending on the extent of damage from the leakage.

SOURCE: Green On-Light goes on, but screen stays black. Just started doing this. Checked monitor on another computer and the same thing happens. Is the monitor worth bothering with? It's a 2004 Lucoms

I would replace the monitor because it is 8 years old and prices have dropped considerably.

Out of range

Use F8 at boot to access windoze safe mode. Right-click the desktop, and open the display manager. In the display settings configure as a plug-n-play monitor, or manually set the resolution to 1280 X 1024 and the refresh rate to 60 or 70 Hz. Those setings match the monitor's optimum settings. Save and close. Reboot and allow normal startup.

Won't come on after power outage

Hi,
Sometimes you have to unplug the monitor from the power supply and wait at least 30 seconds before plugging back in, and make sure you don't need to press the reset button on the power strip.
