No sound on my phillips 42

Just bought it, tried hooking up PS3, no sound, tried hooking up digital cable box (with different cables that i KNOW work), still no sound, about to try hooking up XBox 360, again with different cables, but i'm assuming i'll get the same result. The volume is up, the mute is off, I don't understand what i'm doing/not doing...any suggestions? Phillips is closed today, July 4th, and the model number isn't coming up on their site...

Hook it up with component cables plus L&R analog audio. Make sure the Speakers are not turned off in the settings. Unplug, wait 30 sec's. or even overnight. If still no sound, try cable or air/rabbit ears on the internal tuner. If nothing, bad main board. $350.00 from Andrews.

When I hook up my LG plasma to PS3 and Cable box, I don't get any sound or colour on the PS3. The TV /cable box works fine. Any ideas on the wiring?

What type of connections are you using? HDMI? Component? Composite? What audio? HDMI? Optical Digital? Analog audio?

Are you saying you get video from the PS3, but it is in Black&White only? Is there an NTSC/PAL selector on the PS3? If so, it may be set wrong. Set to NTSC if you're in the United States.

No audio from cable through surround sound

you have to go to the setup for the TV audio and change it to audio out, not speakers.

PS3 not working on 42'' JVC via HDMI cable port

I have the PS3 and this TV and it works....Try this.

1. Turn ON TV
2. Connect HDMI from TV to PS3
3. Select the correct HDMI input on the TV for the PS3(important)
4.Turn OFF PS3 if it is ON.
5. hold [I/O] Power button on PS3
6. Wait about 5 second and you should get the "HDMI Detected" or some similar message.
7. Configure the HDMI output for the PS3

Also, If you set the PS3 to "auto" for hdmi, it may set the resolution to 1080i. You may want to deselect everthing but the 1080P.

All picture and no sound

Rick:
simply unplug--then replug--your HDMI cable. Or also go into the audio setup menu and reapply the "automatic" setting for HDMI to get the sound to work. I don't know if Sony can do anything about this or not in a firmware upgrade, but what it can do is try to simplify the labeling on some of the sound settings.

Try to connect TV AUDIO OUT to TV AUDIO IN or AUX IN on receiver, when you get sound from TV, select SURROUND mode on receiver.
