I'm away from home and wish to connect my cam to a local pc.Where may I find software for the VDR-D250 suitable for wINDOWS xp? Thank you so much!

Unfortunately, Panasonic does not support the VDR-M70 with Windows 7 or 8. See the FAQ here: https://shop.panasonic.com/support-only/VDR-M70.html?t=manuals . The camcorder was released with drivers for Windows 98 (second edition), Me, 2000, and XP.

If you have Windows 7 Pro, you can check if your system supports a virtual computer environment. If you can load a virtual OS, enable virtualization in turn on/off Windows features. (Go to the Control Panel under Programs. Then click on the link. Scroll through the list to find the desired line and check the box.) The XP mode software is available here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8002 . Install the program (including setting up the disc space needed). Then launch the OS and install the software and camcorder driver in the XP mode. Use the directions for installing the VDR-M70 with a computer from the manual, starting on page 130: ftp://ftp.panasonic.com/camcorder/om/vdr-m50pp_en_om.pdf . I haven't found an online source for the Panasonic software download for the VDC-M70. Panasonic's recent software is here: https://av.jpn.support.panasonic.com/support/global/cs/soft/download/ .

(I did run XP mode on a Windows 7 Pro desktop computer with an Intel i5 chip and 8GB of memory. I put in a second hard disk to ensure sufficient space for the second OS. It was a convenient way to maintain support for some older hardware and software.)

You need a standard USB to mini USB cable to connect this camera to an IMAC. I do not however know of any drivers available for this combination.

Software like Sony Vegas or Adobe Premiere Pro or Corel VideoStudio should all work. My advise would be to also use a Firewire cable (may involve installing a firewire card) Just using the USB connecting will often if not always loose the audio

Possible solution but I'm not sure. Don't know enough about video files, etc. Does someone know more? Panasonic VDR-M50 camcorder original software won't work on vista PCs. This freeware might work. Please, someone check it out:

Pinnacle Studio will work with your camcorder. You can either plug the camcorder into the computer and capture the video to your hard drive or you can import the DVD into the hard drive.

Looks like Imagemixer isn't available anymore according to a Google search.

why do you need the driver, if you are just trying to take pics of get an external card reader, otherwise try their website.

I think that the following are to be taken care of first:
1.Cam corder to pc cable is properly connected.Some call it as 1384 connection also.
2.Cam corder should also be run on play mode for transmitting a/v signals to pc to decipher.
3.Ur pc also should have been installed with codec for processing the signals .
4.Your pc also should be usb.2.0 capable.
5.The media on the cam should not be protected for free playing along with pc.
If all the above are checked you would have cracked clear right.

I have the same camera did u click on finalize or something and then its says connect to ac power if yes just get your battery charger and u get this thing that helps u see explore ur camera by also charging the battery at the same time just connect it to the camera and it wont say anything like ac power afterward.
