One thing at a time.
The real time clock is kept on time by a CMOS battery and if the battery goes flat, the time will be lost as will the CMOS data that tells the notebook that there is a hard drive installed.
Replace the CMOS battery first, set the time and date in the BIOS then let the BIOS detect the hard drive.
When the BIOS bit is happy, place a system disk in the DVD Drive and load a fresh OS.
Hope that helps, and have a nice Xmas.

How can i change the real time clock....

a. Click Start, type services.msc and hit ENTER.

b. Locate Windows Time.

c. Right-click and select Restart.

there can be a number of things that can halt the boot process
bios settings not right
bad or faulty leads
faulty bootmanger

make sure there are no disks in cd floppy usb drives

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions IDE,SATA

the leads from your ((MOTHERBOARD TO YOUR HARD DRIVE)) make sure they have a secure dust free connections and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty

if its a flat ribbon 40 pin IDE it will be the fist to fail

make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd have secure connections and are not faulty even the electrical extensions or just replace them they could be faulty a computer needs data and power to travel through every working device and to continue its cycle and to have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error
also make sure you have set it boot from you hard drive in BIOS
During the boot process you will see on the screen to press a certain key to enter setup
Press and hold that key during the boot up process to enter BIOS the using arrow key scroll down to advanced bios features press enter make sure your first boot device is set to your hard drive press escape then press f10 to save to cmos to restart

IDE-0 means Pri master ?
IDE-1 means Pri slave ?
IDE-2 means Sec master ?
IDE-3 means Sec slave ?
hope it helps

I have an HP DV9627CL and the second HD has disappeared

check to see if the drive letter is assigned in computer management. to do this simply go to start, right click on computer(windows 7/vista) my computer(windows xp/2000) and select manage. on the next screen you will have a list of possible commands. the one we are looking for is disk management. click on disk management. after a few seconds you should see a list of your drives. if you come up with an error such as a read error, your hard rive in question will need to be replaced as it has partition problems. i say replaced because once you get any error in this utility your hardrive is on its last legs. im not saying this is your problem but if you get an error then this is your problem. it can be fixed with a partitioning program but eventually the harddrive will fail anyway; bringing you back to here again...so ...... if no errors you will have disk 0 and disk 1. depending on which disk it is....the one without a drive letter assigned to it....you can right click on the drive 0 or 1 and select change drive letter. under that next window you must assign a letter in the drop down box, in your case drive f will work. although you can choose any letter you like. if you installed any programs on this drive you must use the letter originally used for this drive. i suggest try "d" first and see if that makes your programs work, then if not do this one letter at a time up in the scale to see which one works. after you finish this process..click ok and close all windows. restart the computer and should b fixed.

May hard disk doesn't response it says error message then when I tried to run system recovery it doesn't work too. But I'll go to windows but no display then I'll try to run hard disk self test drive the...

> hard-disk self-test drive the result is 0-7 FAILED

It's time to purchase a replacement disk-drive, and then to install Windows Vista onto it, and then connect the "old" drive as a 'SLAVE' disk-drive, to see if you can copy any files onto the "new" disk-drive.

I have 2 HDD's in my PC - both with Win XP Prop

Boot.ini is correct, but looks default is booting from Disk2 and partition 1 which is your G:\ 500 GB.

Try Copying boot.ini from c:\boot.ini to g:\boot.ini It might help

In your example I see missing "\" after partition(1), may be typing mistake, but in real time can generate error.

You boot.ini looks exactly same in both drive c:\ & G:\

[boot loader]
timeout=10
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(2)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(2)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="GUY DRIVE XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect

Note: boot.ini will be hidden and readonly file. You need to unhide the file and remote the read only option and then only you will be able to save the boot.ini file

Hope this helps

I have a scandisk pen drive it show free space 0 kb and use space 0 kb and shows disk unusable plz help

Format the drive by right clicking on its icon and selecting format. Once in the format window, click start. This will take a few minutes and will check the disk for errors as well as format. If you encounter errors while formatting, it may be that the device is defective. Otherwise you should end up with a functioning pen drive.
