Screen darkness Screen has been darkening for about the last 3 months. Using the manual video adjustments on the TV or remote has no effect on the darkness. The TV is only about 3 years old, so this is mystifying.
Just fixed mine.Remove the back of the TV on my model there in a small pwer supply turn the bottom of the two pots this will darken or lighten the screen. Fine tune with the settings on the remote

you have to open the back cover to check weather the screen back light need replacement. usually if the lamp is almost black in color it needs replacement. the backlight is covered with metal shield installed at the upper portion and lower portion of the panel of the tv.
did you tried to look in the darkened room just to ensure if their is a white screen. if you could see a very dark screen like almost no backlight the cause could be the t-con board. you can check also the ballast board for screen back light which need to replaced .
the screen bias needs to be turned down-ehind the front cover which is behind the grille there is a small black square about 3 inch square 6 little knobs sticking out 3 say in small letters screen and 3 say focus, don't adjust the focus just the screen for the coresponding color that shows up when picture is dark.best way to do this is darken the room and put it on video input with no signal if lines are white slowly
adjust 1 color after the other counterclockwise untill
lines disappear if only 1 color shows then only adjust the knob with the matching color. this is a very fine adjustment, to much will make your auto focus stop working. check it after you are done
Its not called aspect ratio on the TV menu. Its likely called 'Format'. It could also be called cinema, wide, 16:9,4:3, Picture, etc. The remote is EXTREMELY likely to have the picture adjustment button. 'Auto' should work the best. However... Most cable pictures are in 4:3. This will leave black bands on the side of the screen. Zoom helps, but you loose the top and bottom of the picture. Most DVDs are 4:3 (Standard) unless you connect with RGB cables or HDMI cable. The DVD may need to be switched to Progressive to get the best effect. An upconverting DVD will have the most impressive results.
From what i can find, you need to adjust the convergence of the individual projectors. One person said you need to adjust them once a month for optimal conditions, but also said once a year will suffice. I have an extra blue image, and although i was able to clean i dont know how many years of grime off the lenses and the mirror, i lack a remote that will operate the menu. I only have one universal remote by RCA that will operate the channels and volume, but not the input (im using S video input) nor the menu functions. You may have to buy a Hitachi remote (1-800-Remotes wants $40 for it), but i will try to get a better universal one and will post back if i have success.
I too have the same problem with the same monitor.. tv looks great OSD looks great.. pc is dim.. This has nothing to do with the inverter board or the backlight.. I believe that there is an issue with the components that render the Computer video.
