I turn the power on but only the orange screen comes on with tom tom one on the screen. Screen not changing at all

First you need to check if the battery is okay, try it on another tom tom gps receiver, if it is working and the screen wont turn on, then it means there is a hardware problem, probably the flexi ribbon that is connected to the screen is either loose or bad, this will require you to disassemble the tom tom and check for the flexi ribbon that connects to the screen, then you resit it or change the ribbon, that should do the job.
You can also try to reset the tom tom first before disassembling it. By pressing and holding the power on/off button for about 15 seconds, if that does not do the job, then you can go ahead and disassemble the tom tom.

Remove SD card, press and hold reset button, location alongside sd card slot, hold for 15 seconds, replace card and switch back on

From the main menu (tap anywhere on the map to get there), select Change Preferences.

Tap the change page arrow (orange triangle in the lower right corner) until you reach Set Units. Tap it.

The first screen that you come to will ask you to select Miles or Kilometers. Tap the radio button for Miles. Continue through the choices until you come back to the Change Preferences menu with "Done" in the lower right corner.

That's it.

(NOTE: You will first have to select Show ALL Menu Options before you see the Set Units button.)

I have had a frozen screen on my TOM TOM - I solved this problem by resetting the TOM TOM. I did this by pressing the pinhole reset buttom on the back of the unit - labled RESET.

get to the navigation screen and tap the screen, there should be a spanner icon, which is the change preferences icon, tap this, click on the arrow three times until you come to a screen with flags on it, you should be able to select english Uk from the screen
