Depending on the speaker versions, it can have a couple or several knobs. One to the left usually controls turning on the speakers and also controls the volume. The other knobs usually control the Bass and Treble sounds coming from the speakers. If you get more specific and give the actual brand, model I could tell you exactly what each is for.

Hope this helps.

My speakers don't want to turn on

Hi ,
Sometimes , new speakers just don't work from the beginning and you need to bring them back to the retail shop under waranty .
Before doing that , check your soundcard by connecting it's output to another sound set , like your hifi or another speakers set . If this doesn't work , you could be just facing a driver issue that can easily be solved by downloading and installing the correct driver from the manufacturer's site .

We have older speakers that came with our computer, and we just moved and since we've moved no sound has come out of the speakers. i have checked a million times and everything's plugged in. i...

First check if the driver for your speakers is up to date. For all we know maibe something that was installed automaticaly or by some one might be interfearing with them. Go to the Window menu, click on Conrol Panel, click on speaker settings, and check to see if anything looks off (like everything is gray and you can't really select anything). If everything seems ok check all the volume settings. Remember there are 3 things that control the volume on the speakers. 1: the nob on the speakers; 2: the volume on your desktop (lower right side next to the clock); 3: the volume on the program you are using (like windows media player). Another thing to remember is some computers come with a mute button (ether on the keyboard or monitor. If your computer has a play/skip/stop buttons it most likely has a mute button. Oh, and some computers have a volume nob next to the CD/DVD player (where you put in disks). Maibe some one turned it down as they grabed to move it. Make sure it's also turned up. If they're all turned up then most likely something got bumped loose during the move. In wich case you'll have to open it up and check the conections. It'd be a good idea to test some one elses speakers so you'll know if it's the computer or the speakers...or you could try pluging in the speakers you have into something else (like an MP3 Player).

We set up the logitech x-350 speakers with a pavilion slimline 2009 hp pc and all but two speakers work, how can i fix this problem?

So on my speaker system (the same one) The nob broke off, but it started with only a few of them not working (mainly the back ones) I took a part the main speaker (the one with the control nob) and found that the nob its self was not set on the circuit board properly, check if yours is connected completely. There should be 6 brown peaces of plastic connecting the volume nob to the circuit board, if any of these are disconnected or not completely level then that is what is causing your problem. Be careful reattaching them and make sure the system is not on when you do because you might risk blowing all the speakers plugged in. Each part connected to the volume nob is a speaker, the nob controls each one if they are not connected then the speaker wont work at all.
If that does not work then you should try checking each wire connected to the speaker, when you pick it up or move it around the speaker may become active and turn off depending on how you hold or move the wire, this would be because your wire is fragmented, and you could try replacing it but I am not sure how effective that would be.
Glad I could help - Ben

I sent my computer back to the manufacturer before the warranty had expired. Supposedly was given new speakers, which crackle and the sound is distorted. Cannot reach the manufacturer since the warranty...

The best and simplest thing you can do is
If its a hardware issue then
  1. if you can find any nobs or buttons on the speaker try to adjust them
  2. Borrow other preferably similar type of speakers from family or friends and test them on your computer. If there is a difference you you should be sure that the hardware speakers are faulty provided the way you defined them in your problem.
To make sure that its not a software problem you can go to your Windows Start menu >Control Panel >Sound
and just try to play with it but I am sure that you will be decrease or Increase the sound, they disturbing sound will remain the same in the background.
