New Bestec ATX 300 12E power supply showing no signs of working.

My power supply for my Emachine recently failed and I have attempted to replace it with a new one. The problem is that the new power supply shows no signs of working once everything is plugged in and the power cord is plugged up. Please help.....

    See if there are any led lights turned on the mother board when power is applied to it. You may be able to check the power going to the mother board from the power supply by pluggin it in half way and taking a meter and checking for voltage being careful to touch the probe on one electrical post at a time.

No it is not neccassary to use a E-machine power supply if your previous one has become faulty. You can use any one as long as it has the required power rating.

Actually no, the power does continually comes in but, when stopped, the PS is in a state that could be assimilated to stand-by - only a small side circuit is continually operational.

Normally if you open the PSU up warranty will be void. ( if it's Under Warranty). if not once you open the unit the fuse's are located right nest to the power input.
