Having a burned DVD sounds like you may have copied the folders from the old computer. You cannot easily re-install software that way. You need either the original installation DVD or a copy of the original DVD. Another suggestion is to borrow a copy of an installation disc and use your own registration number, that may work.
If you are using Windows XP or Vista, you won't need any software to burn CD's. It's supported by the operating system. You can use drag 'n drop. I know of several computer companies who are not including specific software because you can burn without it. For more complicated jobs, you'll have to buy software.
I think it only runs best with nero 6, it probably may be hard to find a standalone download now as nero have trials all over the place. I know it does not work with the latest nero's and when loading nero 6 on vista it will say that it is incompatible, but it does still run and work fine. Just try googling for it and you never know you may find a torrent to download.

If you want a burning software the search Google for a free burning programs and use it. there are a lot of softwares available for this purpose. Examples: Burn4Free, CDBurnerXP, BurnAware Free, BurnOn CD/DVD Free v3.1.3 etc.
You told it to burn a multisession disk and didn't pay attention to how Nero likes to do that, which is to do it once and add to that one disk from there. If you want to make multiple copies you have to reload or refresh the session and burn again from there.
For Nero 7 at any rate, that's how it works. You can get better behavior options in...what's current, 9?
