OfficeJet Pro 8500 Wireless I can send faxes but cannot receive them. The call will come in and the fax will display 'Ringing'. It will ring twice, as it's setup to auto answer on the 2nd ring, and will then display 'Connecting' for quite some time and the display 'Receive Failed' and disconnect.

Pleass make a copy from the printer either you use a dedicated line for phone and fax or the same line for phone and fax
then perform a power drain on the printer steps to perform a power drain press and hold the power button down holding down the button unplug the power cable from the rear access of the printer hold down the button for 10 secs then first replug the power cord then reboot the printer press the setup icon(it resembles a wrench) on the printer touch screen then go to tools then select run fax test then you can come to know what is the problem if there is dial tone failure you need to check the phone line if all says pass then go to setup once again then go to advanced fax setup then check fax speed if it is fast set it to medium then check the ecm(error correction mode) set it to off from on then go to automatic reduction then set it to off then go to basic fax setup then check the rings to answer please make sure that the rings to answer for fax should always be 2 rings more than the telephonic answering machine run a fax test again then try sending a fax to the number(1-888-473-2963) thats the hp[ faxme ] number you will get a return fax if the fax test says that the fax hardware failed please contact the hp tech support thank you with regards

How to turn fax send report on

the Officejet Pro 8500 Series can still do a fax confirmation page, you just have to set it up. Press the Setup button (looks like wrench), then 2. Print Report, then 1. Fax Confirmation. From there you can select to print it out on Send, Recieve, or Both.

I need a test fax to see if i can receive on my hp office jet pro 8500.

Hi,

Send a one page black and white text fax to 1-888-hpfaxme (1-888-473-2963).
When your fax is received by the HP Test Fax Service, It will generate a return fax to you within five minutes confirming that we received your fax. This verifies that you can both send and receive a fax with your fax machine.

I can receive faxes but cannot send them

Is it possible that the RECEIVING FAX-unit caused the "not sent" message? It could be out of paper, and thus would be unable to print the FAX, after receiving it. So, it would signal "not sent", meaning that "not successfully received and printed".

Will not receive incoming fax. Everything tests OK

First, Connect the Phone line in Line 1 EXT at back of printer

Check the No. of Rings on your Answer machine.
If you have 4 Rings set on Answer machine then you need to set 6 Rings on the printer ( as simple 2 rings more than your Answer machine )
And you need to turn off ECM on the Printer setup

Press Setup button
Scroll till you find Fax Settings - Press OK
Choose Rings to Answer - Set it - 6 ( based on the Rings on Answer machine ) - Press OK
Check for ECM - Error Correction Mode - Press OK
Turn it OFF - Press OK
Check for Auto Answer option - Turn it ON too.

Try to receive Fax.. it should come thru.

Can send but not receive faxes

check your fax set up... for example doe yoyu have an answering machine in house or do you have to dial out to get messages? if its an answering machine change the rings to answer on the fax machine to at least 2 rings after the answering machine answers
if its voicemail/answering service the machine may not answer at all.
if it is a shared line but with a different number specifically for the fax try a distinctive ring for the fax line and make sure the auto answer light is on. if the auto answer is not on... then the fax will not answer

Can't get my hp office jet pro 8500 to receive or send faxes. Husband lost the instruction manual.

Follow this link to HP Customer Care: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/pfinder?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&tool=&query=OfficeJet+Pro+8500#N447

Select your OJ Pro 8500 Model (A909n - basic, A909g - wireless or A909n - premium). On the next page, Select 'manuals'. From there you can access (read online or download & safe to your hard drive) all of the manuals.
