I have seen this problem occur when the humidity goes up, such as rainy days. Paper will become slightly thicker and stickier in humid conditions. Something to think about.

From looking at the manual it looks as if you have a faulty thermistor. When warming up, it has to heat up to at least 60 degrees. If it stays lower then 60 degrees celsius for over 35 seconds and doesn't reach 60 within that time frame then that would cause the open heat error that is happening on your machine.
On the back of the printer, there's a small plastic flag or something like lever. That one detects the paper. Remove the rear door and check for any possible paper strips that was torn or left. You may need a flashlight to clearly see if there's remaining paper
I am facing the same issue, but its related to Copy (not Print).
The carriage/CCD Light in the scanner is stuck in its original position, causing a scanner error, and all I get are 3/2 vertical lines on the page. Some time I also get an empty page out.
