Reset the router:

This is done by simply holding down the reset button located on the back of the unit for at least 30 seconds. Once the router has been reset, it must be reconfigured, if you are using wireless security encryption. Using your web browser go to URL address http://192.168.1.1. You will then be prompted to login to your router. A log-in screen asking for the password will automatically appear. At this time enter the default password "admin", in lower case letters into the password field. The username field may be left blank at this time. (Note: both the default username and default password are set to "admin" on some of the newer Linksys router models).

then:
Shutdown your PC. Unplug the power from the router and the cable modem.
Wait 30 sec. then plug in the power to the cable modem, wait 30 sec. then plug the power to the router. Wait till you have "Internet" light then restart your PC. The PC should pick up an IP address and you should be able to get on-line. This is if you have a cable service provider. If you have DSL, the router needs to be configured with PPOe

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response. Happy Holidays!

N300 router has a steady orange blinking light

The blinking orange power light suggests that there is a problem with your modem. The modem should be plugged into the top ethernet port of your router. Try turning off your modem for 10 seconds and then turning it back on.

Electricity went out in my home and now my computer will not connect to the internet. I checked with my internet server and the problem appears to be with the router. I have a D Link N150 home router. Can...

Ok...the first thing to try is to power everything down....modem, router, and PC.
Then power them back on in this order: Modem (wait for lights to go solid) then Router (again wait for solid lights) and then PC.

I am assuming you are trying to connect wirelessly. So if it's not working on wifi, try it plugged in using an ethernet cable. Make sure that the connection from your provider comes from the wall to your modem, then from your modem to router, and from the router to your PC.

If you can't get a connection wired, take the router out of the mix. Plug your PC directly into the modem. (rebooting them both in the same order that I mentioned above.)

If it works with the modem, then the problem is with your router. You may need to press the reset button for 30 seconds or so and start over with a fresh configuration. If the modem connection does NOT work, you may want to get on the phone with your providers support team to check the connection coming to your house.

There is an orange light on the front of the router. What does it mean when this light is on all the time? It wasn't on before. It doesn't seem to interfere with anything, but it bothers me since I don't...

There should be two lights on the front of the router. The top one is your router status light... If this light is blinking orange, then your router cannot detect your modem. The other one is the WPS (Wifi Protected Setup) button light. If this light is solid orange, then that means the button was pushed, but no connetion was created. Either way, there is no indication of an intuder on your network. So, as long as you have setup your wireless security and encryption, you can rest easy.

The Router is showing modem prob : when router out of loop works

Your router needs to be configured correctly

Turn everything off, modem, router and computer.

Turn on the modem first and wait for a solid data/connect light.

Turn on the router, give it two minutes.

Still if problem presists you need to reset the router ..

How to reset::
Push and release the “Reset” button.
The lights on the Router will momentarily flash.
The “Power/Ready” light will begin to blink. When the “Power/Ready” light becomes solid again, the reset is complete

My SBC 2Wire modem (yellow light) in the middle between the green lights goes on and off. Intermittent....

The middle light is the light for internet services. If it is flashing that means its looking for a dsl signal, if its solid orange that means it needs authentication information (IE: username/password entered into it) and if its solid red that means you have no signal at all. What I would recommend is first check all the phones/alarms/satelite dish systems in your house and make sure they all have dsl filters on them before plugging into the wall, since this will cause an intermittent dsl connection. If everything is fine then call your Internet Provider and have them do some line tests for you to see if the service is having problems.
