Stanely Bostitch 00540 stapler - How do you adjust for 15/16" staples so they do not fold over themselves in the back once you staple something. I am stapling approximately 40 pages.

This stapler is an antique first made in 1936. It should be fixable as stuff was made better in those days. From memory, the pusher clips into the top of the handle part.

talk with your local office suppliers or good hard ware shop for longer staples for the machine
the problem you will have to consider is the length behind the staples that will restrict how far down the sides of the container you can staple
box and carton staplers are available on line , are foot operated and have considerable depth for the purpose of containers and boxes or there may be a local supplier that will have a machine better suited for what you want to do.

If you look at the back of the stapler, there's a bright red button. Push this in and slightly lift up at the same time, then magazine is withdrawn. Feed a strip of staples in and replace the pusher unit.

"The staples load from the rear of the stapler. At the back end of the is a piece of black plastic that extends beyond the end of the stapler. This device holds the staples inside the stapler. To open the area where the staples are placed, push this extended button and lift up on it. The spring device that holds the staples inside the stapler will then slide out. Place a new strip of staples inside the stapler on top of the two metal guide rails. Then insert the spring device to lock the staples in place. The stapler is now loaded and ready to work. Biggest olptrit on our office is people putting the wrong staples in it... Check to make sure the ones that are in it are on the approved list.

2) No staples... fill with staples
3) push down on handle to fire staple
