The problem may be in one of several places, here's a list of things to try, starting with the easiest and progressing to more difficult:
1. Run your hand around the bottom of the pool in the dishwasher looking for paper or cellophane that may be covering the screen of the drain.
2. Disconnect the drain hose from under the sink (get a bucket and rags) looking for a clog at that point of connection. Run the dishwasher drain cycle while you have this hose pointed into a bucket - if nothing comes out, the problem is between points 1 and 2.
3. Partially remove the dishwasher so you can get to the drain hose where it connects to the dishwasher. Temporarily put another drain hose on it, with the other end in a bucket. Run the drain cycle of the dishwasher. If it comes gushing out, the drain hose is clogged. If it still won't drain, your will need some disassembly of the drain & pump.
