My son has an Audiovox 10" portable DVD player (PVS33116) that needs a replacement battery (specifications: 7.4V 1800mAh) and I have read a lot about this portable DVD player. I believe the manual says the original battery is "nonreplaceable" and I would like to know if a 7.4V battery with 1600-2200mAh would be OK?

try to charge the battery for a while, then test it if it will work without being plugged to a power supply.

you can also use you audiovox PV33116 player without the battery, but you should take note that as soon as the power supply goes off, the player goes off too.

Apparently Audiovox does not support the pvs33116 dvd player. Nor does the manufacturer Alco. Support and accessories can be found at http://www.1800customersupport.com/products.aspx?type=pad&view=1385&p=75&sc=5

Thus one can purchase a $15.00 ac adapter, $20.00 battery, or a $10 dc adapter for a dvd player that's worth about 10 cents.
