Our Kitchen Aid KDI -16 has been working great for years. Today, my mother noticed a small puddle that was on the floor in front of the dishwasher. We took of the bottom front panal to discover that when the washer drained, water was spraying all over the inside of the bottom of the washer. Water was being sprayed all over the electrical systems in the bottom of the washer. It appears that the "motor to basin gasket" seemed to be warped. Is this a logical explenation? And if so, Is it replacable?

yep you can just get springs from lowes or home dept or your local hardware store; they're often in with the hardware (i.e., screws) and not plumbing. remember that the springs need to stretch out a bit, too; so you may end up buying springs that look shorter than they should, but they eventually habituate.

my dishwasher did this for awhile. i found a small object lodged in the drain under the moving sprayer. i put a small amount of powdered clorox2 and ran a cycle. afterwards i ran a jetdry cycle. i havent had a problem since.

I'm not sure if that replacemetn part would work, but I know you can get cheap stainless panels and faux stainless options at applianceart.com. They have colors, textures, seasonal, designs, and stainless steel. You can choose between faux stainless (as seen on HGTV and the Today show) or regular stainless metal. check out www.applianceart.com
