Remove the dispenser tray. Inspect the area just above the fabric softener portion of the dispenser. There should be a series of holes where water feeds into the tray during the rinse cycle. Sometimes these holes become clogged with fabric softener residue. If the holes are clogged, water will never dispense the fabric softener out and it will stay in the tray. If you take some cotton swabs and meticulously clean all the holes out, I bet your problem will go away. Let me know if this was helpful to you.

Same deal - I have to soak up all the residual water in the softener dispenser between washes. (The detergent and bleach compartments are fine).

Hello mab2005,
Take a look at this post regarding removing Fabric Softener dispenser and clean out and see if it helps. The bleach dispenser is a bit more difficult to clean up I did not bother. You can also lift the washer top using this process to make sure the fabric softener and bleach dispenser drain holes are not blocked.
To raise the top of the machine; Insert a flat blade putty knife approximately 2.5” from the left and right sides of the washer top, depress the spring tabs securing machine top to the washer base. See page 33 of the Service Manual for putty knife insertion point. You might find something in the Use & Care section of the service manual that might help, I have never looked.
You may have mold built up as I and other users have, see the attached Pic. If I were going to replace a tub seal I would clean out this mold during that repair process. This is the process I'm going to try sonn and I will let ya know if it works. Start a quick wash once the water fill sequence starts I would pause the washer. I would then remove the front panel (as I show in the pic) and view the tub while I very carefully over fill with water to slightly above the mold ring. I would then throw a gallon of bleach in start a continue the quick wash to agitate the solution for a few minutes pause the washer and let sit for a while. Then continue the quick wash thru the complete cycle. I would not try this until I give it a try I’ll let ya know how this works outs.
The tangle problem is inherent to the machine design with
the tumbler rotation action to agitate the wash
load. Hope this helps.
