Dropped the binoculars and now have double vision. How to fix? Nikon Medallion 10 x 21.5

This is such a common binocular problem that I hope you don't mind me pasting my generic answer below. There's no point in re-inventing the wheel.

Your binoculars either have a bent or broken yoke assembly (the bit which carries the eyepieces) or one or more prisms have came unseated.

The first repair involves replacing the entire yoke assembly: the part is expensive in comparison to the retail cost of a new pair of binoculars and with labour charges on top is not usually a cost-effective repair except on really high end models at prices far higher than yours which can be completely replaced for under US$70.

The second repair is straightforward and fairly quick for anyone with the right collimation equipment, but the screw(s) need to be secured with thread-locking liquid afterwards, and not all low cost models allow access to the adjusters after manufacturing.

I hope you manage to use this information to fix your binoculars or at least that it assists you to choose your next course of action. Please take a moment to rate the free answer I have provided for you and any testimonial which you might wish to add is always welcome!

No apparent exterior damage but now my nikon's have "double vision" clear on each individual tube but doubled vision when veiwing normal. any suggestions?

The prisms have shifted inside of the binoculars. This is not an easy job as you have to make corrections to the angle of the prisms for leaning field and collimation. Two suggestions:
1. If they are under warranty take them to a repair agent.
2. If you want to do it yourself, there are instructions on the web about how to go about effecting a collimation. Too long to go into detail here.

Specifically, what do I need to do to fix double vision in my 10-x25 Cabela's wide angle binos? I believe they were dropped.

If they are expensive binocs I would take them to a camera shop for a repair estimate. If they are somewhat inexpensive I would just replace them. They might be bent or the prisim damaged or an internal lens that has came loose.

Sorry, wish the news was better.

I'm getting double vision in my Nikon 10X50 Lookout II binoculars. This is the second time in about 2 years. They have been excellent for many years ad I really don't want to buy any more at this time. ...

Hi cmbaldwin,
Double vision is caused by misaligned collimation,
Make sure all segments are screwed tightly together.
including the screw under the little cap on the center hinge.

If none of the above fixes it, you probably have a misaligned prism In the binoculars. That unfortunately is a factory fix.
I would call Nikon customer service on the phone,
Tell them you love their product, but are very, very, frustrated with the same problem repeating itself ( I hope you haven't dropped the binoculars)

If you get nowhere, ask to speak to the customer service manager, explain the problem all over again.
If that will not resolve it. Ask them them if they have a trade up program.
Never hurts to ask.

As you say, they are a outstanding company to work with.
and let them know that you won't settle for anything less than a Nikon. They do want you as a lifelong customer.

Don't get frustrated, just keep jumping through the hoops until you get the problem resolved to your satisfaction.
Good luck and best regards, Paul

Binocular double vision

you binoculars are probobly out of alignment. Having them realigned costs about $100. If the binoculars aren't expensive, you might want to try this yourself. Basically, one of the front lenses is off-center, and you can rotate it in its mount until the alignment is right. (I.e., it's off center in the right direction.) You will need an optical spanner (which Americans redundantly call a "spanner wrench") or an improvised substitute in order to do this.
