During the normal wash cycle, with sani-rinse selected, the dishwasher stopped working. When I pressed the Cancel/Drain button, nothing happened, other than a quiet clicking sound, as if it was trying to do something. I suspect a switch, but which one? Or is it, maybe, a door switch? I am not able to locate an owners manual, as it is an older model, plus it is from another house. I have used it for approx. 7 yrs. with no problems.
Thanks for the tip. I'll check the ohms when I can lay my hands on the meter. One thing though, as near as I could tell, the dishwasher had not reached the rinse cycle, as there was soapy water in the bottom of it. Thanks. WE

Re: Kenmore Dishwasher 665.15895791 will not drain
What sani-rinse does is turn the heater back on in the rinse cycle. You first should check the heater for voltage either at the start of the first cycle or do a ohms check. Please rate this !!!

Try a reset. I have a kitchenaid. The reset is to press the sani-rinse, hea-dry, sani-rinse, heat -dry, then close the door. You can hear action the dishwasher doing something. Takes about 2-3 minutes, then stops. At this point I was able to select a wash cycle and start, close the door, and it started. Good luck
Unlock your Kenmore dishwasher control panel by pressing and holding the "Heated Dry" button for four seconds.
Press a series of four buttons in quick succession. Press "Heated Dry,"
"Normal Wash," "Heated Dry" and "Normal Wash" to instruct your Kenmore
dishwasher to run a short diagnostic test
Wait for two minutes while your Kenmore dishwasher runs its diagnostic test.
Press the "Cancel/Drain" button once your dishwasher has completed its
diagnostic test. This should reset your dishwasher control panel and
stop the "Clean" light from blinking repeatedly.
Good luck.
The red light tell you there is a fault. You have to read the fault code and it will give you a general idea of the problem - to do this you have to enter the service mode of operation - close the door and turn the dishwasher on. The Start/Stop light must be blinking. If the Start/Stop light is not blinking, press and hold the Start/Stop button for at least 3 seconds to exit the cycle. The Start/Stop light should now be blinking.
Press and hold the Start/Stop button while turning the dishwasher on. Release the Start/Stop button and immediately press it 2 more times. Press back and forth between the "sani rinse" button and the "heated dry" button several times. This should put it into a "test mode" where all of the buttons light up and the dishwasher does a self-test. Wait about 5 minutes until you're sure the test is complete, and the dishwasher will operate normally. If those 2 buttons don't work, try going back and forth between the "sani rinse" button and the "hi temp wash" button.
Try this solution first Push the Hi-temp and then push the Sani-rinse. Go back and forth multiple times on these two buttons. I found that after a handfull of pushes that a "1" came up on the display. I continued to keep rotating the two buttons and then a "2" came up on the display and the dishwater started it's "drain" phase. I then hit cancel to clear and then I selected the cycle I wanted. The washer started up just as normal at this point.
you'll need to enter a diagnostic mode, press in this order, hi-temp(sani-rinse)----heated dry--hitemp---heated dry... all lights should light, close door and let cycle for about a min, after press the cancelbutton, you should be good to go, the buttons on your model may read slighty different names, if this "toggle of buttons" does not work, you can remove thelower access panel and htere willl be a tech sheet/trouble shoooter behind the panel, in there it will explain how to enter diag/test mode
press back and forth between hi-tempwash and sani rinse several times to get all lights to come on if not then press sani rinse and heated dry back and forth several times. one of though combos will start the test mode. the test mode will stop the light from blinking and you can use the dishwasher again
