Are you trying to transfer the video to a computer to then burn to a dvd? Make sure before you put the disc in any other device, that the disc is finalized.

1 open cover and move slider down to C 2 press the stop start half way once auto focus is adjusted O will turn green and 1 or seveal af frame will apear. 3 press start stop fully the DISC access indicator will flash as image is being recorded.
Are you sure you do don't have the system muted?
Press the Menu, then System Setup, press SET. Select VOLUME then press SET.Adjust the volume with the left/right arrow keys, then click set.

i had the same problem. you may have plugged your power supply into the a/v slot near the function button..that is what i did. there is another place near the lens to plug it in. try that and then finalize should be an option.
