Most likely the batteries you are using is not for "high drain" devices. Digital cameras take very good batteries to run. Regular batteries, even brand new will sometimes bot have enough juice to run the camera. Try looking for batteries "for high drain devices." Rayovac makes some that run my camera fine.

Battery won't hold a charge in camera, but batteries are new

Hello Sonja, Try a firmware update for the CX7430 available at Kodak website listed under SUPPORT, be sure to get the firmware download for your model camera ONLY !!!!! If this does not help, some of these batteries that come from China are very low quality and have had them discharge sitting on the shelf !!!! Try Duracell or Other name brand battery, watch out for some sold on E-Bay as many are very low quality.
Best Regards, Russell

Low Battery

Many Kodak brand cameras have this problem, and when I say many I mean almost all. The only solution is to try different types/brands of batteries until you find one that lasts.

Wont switch on

Some cameras have a bettery setting in the menu. You need to make sure this setting is set to the type of batteries you are using. Usually when you use akaline batteries and even if you put in fresh batteries but still get the low battery indication then your camera is set to rechargable (Ni-Mh). Ni-Mh has more power to it then alkaline so this is why you get the low indication.
